Chapter 91
"Madison?" Cameron asked, looking at Laura. "Do you know her?"
"I didn't, before," Laura replied, her voice cold. "But now, I do."
"Then?"
"To be honest," Laura said, her cold voice delivering a judgmental tone, "she doesn't deserve you." Before coming to Yrando, she had thoroughly investigated Madison. This woman had not only betrayed Cameron but had also cheated on her husband. Laura would never forgive her.
"Yeah, I think so too," Cameron said indifferently.
"So, if you say the word, I can make her disappear from Yrando. Her fiancé, Archie, as well. He was the one who sent people to deal with you earlier," Laura said.
A chill filled the car. Peggy and Perez shivered. Cameron remained unfazed. "I don't need you to interfere in my affairs. I'll handle them my way."
"Okay, then I won't interfere. Cameron, let's talk about our relationship." Laura's tone softened, the coldness receding.
Peggy and Perez sighed with relief. Laura's demeanor had been overwhelming! But what kind of relationship did she have with Cameron to elicit such intensity?
"Ms. Jones, do you think there's anything left for us to talk about?" Cameron asked, unaffected by Laura's intensity, his expression remaining indifferent.
A sharp pain pierced Laura's heart as their gazes met. If only they could go back… But she knew they couldn't. Everything good was frozen seven years ago, in that single month. This trip to Yrando was her final attempt to see Cameron. Afterward, they would never see each other again.
A hint of sadness flickered in Laura's cold eyes, but she quickly regained her composure. "Cameron, I know you hate me, but I want to help you. I'll only stay in Yrando for half a month. After that, I promise I'll never bother you again. So, I hope you can accept my help. It would give me peace of mind."
Peggy gasped. What kind of relationship did Laura have with him? She had never seen Laura treat a man like this before! If Skyler, in Leving, knew about this, he would probably…
"Peace of mind?" Cameron laughed, observing Laura's calm expression. He didn't know her true feelings. Before this, he'd even held a glimmer of hope. With a self-deprecating smirk, he looked at her indifferently. "Ms. Jones, I'm doing very well now. You don't need to worry about me. If you feel guilty about the past, there's no need. I've let it go."
