Chapter 201: I Want To Be With You

Upon arriving home, Isabella began unbuckling her seatbelt and preparing to exit the car. Worry creased her forehead. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had forgotten something important that evening. She felt overwhelmed; that night's events were too much to process. Her brain felt like it was running on overdrive.

Before she could get out, a hand circled her wrist, halting her movement. Isabella turned to find Alexander's eyes fixed intensely on hers. He seemed to want to speak.

Apologies have been made, and money has been paid. What more does he want? she thought.

"What?" Isabella asked.

"Isabella," Alexander began nervously, "haven't you always dreamed of having a wedding? Let's get properly married whenever you're ready."

Alexander struggled to express his emotions, especially this unfamiliar fluttering in his chest—a feeling of affection he'd never experienced before. He decided to leave the choice to Isabella. He wasn't a fool; the stark contrast between the current Isabella and the one from six months ago proved that their tumultuous two-year relationship had finally broken her spirit. She had accepted it and given up on them, her mind now filled with thoughts of divorce. He knew she no longer felt the same love for him. She might appreciate his looks and wealth, but her affection for him was gone. Her initial fondness and obsession seemed inexplicable in retrospect.

Realizing his burgeoning feelings and Isabella's vastly different emotions, Alexander found himself caught in a complicated mix of joy and sorrow. It was his fault. For too long, he lacked the patience to understand her true self, and now, it was too late for regrets.

He didn't know what to do. His only instinct was to hold onto Isabella, as she seemed poised to leave. As long as she didn't mention divorce, he believed he could salvage their relationship. Ironically, his emotions had always been rather flat; he'd never felt such intense feelings. Yet, in that moment, fear paralyzed him. He could barely breathe.

Isabella's eyes widened in disbelief. Is he serious? A wedding? What is he even thinking? Although he doesn't have the so-called "first crush" Wait a minute Why didn't we have a wedding before, since he never had a crush on Eleanor? I get it now! It must be so it wouldn't look bad for the heir of the Quirk family to not hold a proper wedding.

Alexander hesitated. He couldn't deny her thoughts.

Without the so-called "first crush," there will be no silly relationship drama. My husband is rich, handsome, and a good man. I have a good relationship with his family. I have no reason to refuse him! But the real question is does this mean he will be willing to sleep with me after the wedding? I don't want to live my life like a widow!

The tension in the car nearly suffocated Alexander. After pondering his proposal for so long, hearing that rather blunt question in her thoughts was shocking. He couldn't meet her gaze. He swallowed nervously and whispered softly, "Yes I'm willing."

Isabella's mind was in turmoil; she didn't hear him. Lost in her thoughts, she contemplated their predicament. A wedding meant a proper marriage. Things would change.

In her previous life, she was an orphan, lacking love, a partner, and marriage. The hardships of her life made even friendships difficult. Without marriage in this life, she doubted her ability to have any relationship at all. The thought consumed her.

If I truly become the wife of an heir of the Quirk family, I'll enjoy their endless wealth. It'll be like being born with a golden spoon! Much better than a two hundred million monthly alimony!

Hearing her thoughts, Alexander felt relieved. Thank God for my net worth He was tempted to add that he even had an eight-pack. Everything she desired, he possessed.

But what if my new status stops me from living freely? Or what if Alexander falls for someone else? I wouldn't mind another divorce, but if we divorced after a wedding, everyone would know I was once Mrs. Quirk. Wouldn't that make remarriage difficult? A wedding

Isabella continued her internal monologue, her gaze unfocused. She felt her life spiraling out of control, her first instinct to flee.

Suddenly, the hand on her wrist was gone. Alexander opened the car door and stepped out.

Isabella was startled. Did I take too long to think?

He hurried around the car. As soon as she stepped out, he was beside her, pressing his hands against her torso, trapping her against the car. Isabella was stunned by his assertiveness. She stared up at him unblinkingly.

Alexander struggled to control his breathing, trying to overcome the lump in his throat. He found it hard to speak. It wasn't pride, but every time he tried to express his feelings, his throat would tighten.

#511. I die if I speak my feelings!

He realized he'd never spoken such words to a woman before. However, after bearing Isabella's inner voice, he knew he had to say something.

"Isabella, if you agree to a wedding, there are certain things I must tell you first."

Alright then?! I haven't even agreed yet, and he's already setting grand rules he expects me to perform! Great!

Alexander's gaze intensified. He stared deeply into Isabella's eyes. "Become my wife, and nothing more. You may do whatever you wish, or nothing at all. You'll have your freedom. I don't need anything from you as long as you stay happily by my side. You are yourself first, and my wife second."

Isabella was stunned.

What's going on?! With the way he's speaking, I would have thought he was proposing!

Alexander's eyes sparkled. "We started off on the wrong foot, Isabella, and I want to start over. I may not have flowers or a ring, but I am proposing to you now. You know that, right?"

Wait What's going on? A proposal? Why is he acting as if he's actually in love with me?

Alexander ignored her thoughts. Her words disrupted the romantic atmosphere he'd been trying to create. Then, finally breaking free of his mental shackles, he leaned in and, as she watched in shock, pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. His throat bobbed nervously. Her skin felt cool, and she smelled subtly sweet. He found it hard to pull away.

However, beneath his arms, Isabella remained still and tense. Alexander shifted his gaze, looking deeply into her eyes. Seeing the turmoil within them, a small smile tugged at his lips. "Because I've fallen for you, and I want to be with you."
