Chapter 206: Secrets, Schemes, and Silent Battles

โ€œGet back the money we gave to Victoriaโ€™s company, and keep pressuring them until they go bankrupt,โ€ Easton ordered.

โ€œYes, Iโ€™ll get on it right away,โ€ Taylor replied. Victoriaโ€™s company had already been cut off, and with the bossโ€™s new orders, Taylor figured there was a better than 90% chance that Victoria wouldnโ€™t end up as the lady boss.

Ever since she started working as Eastonโ€™s assistant, Taylor had noticed Easton growing increasingly frustrated with Victoria. Any hint of affection? Not a chance; the so-called โ€œfirst loveโ€ had clearly lost her charm.

The call ended abruptly, leaving Victoria fuming with nowhere to vent her anger. Her face went from pale to flushed as she glanced around. โ€œGo ask management where Ellis lives,โ€ she demanded.

Since Victoria didnโ€™t have her phone on speaker, Jess couldnโ€™t hear what Easton had said. But judging by the look on Victoriaโ€™s face, it was obvious that it wasnโ€™t anything good.

When Jess heard Victoria ask her to find out exactly where Ellis lived, she quickly warned, โ€œMs. Victoria, there is surveillance everywhere around here!โ€

โ€œDo you know what Easton just said to me?โ€ Victoria spat bitterly, swallowing hard. โ€œHe said Iโ€™m two-faced, and whatever we had is over!โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Jess faltered, unsure of what to say.

โ€œThis is all Ellisโ€™s fault! Iโ€™m going to find her and teach her a lesson!โ€ Victoriaโ€™s eyes burned with hatred for Ellis. Ellis was the reason she hadnโ€™t become Mrs. Hudson the moment she got back. Instead, she ended up with what felt like some nobodyโ€™s unwanted leftovers. Worse yet, Ellis had wrecked her image in front of Easton, and now he had completely cut her off.

If Victoria tried to go after Ellis again tonight, chances were Ellis would call the cops without a second thought. They would both end up at the station, and once the police called her parents, sheโ€™d be in for a serious scolding, or worse. Just the thought of it made Jess grab Victoria and pull her out of the neighborhood.

Jess suddenly grabbed her arm, leaving Victoria confused. โ€œWhere are you dragging me?โ€ she asked.

โ€œMs. Victoria, please just let me be. If you want to stir up trouble, fine, but not in my apartment complex. If my parents find out, theyโ€™ll kill me!โ€ Jess had made up her mind to stay out of Victoriaโ€™s mess. After all, Victoria didnโ€™t mind embarrassing herself, but Jess sure did.

โ€œPathetic!โ€ Victoria snapped, yanking her arm out of Jessโ€™s grasp. โ€œEaston and Ellis are divorcedโ€”sheโ€™s nothing now!โ€

She huffed and added, โ€œI wonโ€™t go after her today, but Iโ€™ll find the right time and a spot without any surveillance to teach her a lesson. Iโ€™ll make sure she pays for this.โ€

She had made up her mind; instead of confronting Ellis herself, she would pay someone else to do it and make sure it happened away from any surveillance. That way, even if Ellis reported it to the police, they wouldnโ€™t be able to track down the person responsible, and if they did, she could just pay someone to take the fall.

Jess ignored Victoriaโ€™s words, staying right where she was. She gave a small wave, almost like a farewell, and said pleadingly, โ€œMs. Victoria, thanks for coming to get me, but Iโ€™m not going out tonight. Have fun without me.โ€

Victoria realized that Jess was not only useless but also a burden. Knowing she couldnโ€™t count on her, Victoria had no choice but to leave.

On her way to her next stop, Victoria put her money to work, starting to arrange for someone to get back at Ellis.

What Victoria did not know was that Taylor was working overtime, reviewing the financial records of Eastonโ€™s transactions with Victoriaโ€™s company. She was also coordinating with the legal team of Hudson Group to figure out how to drive Victoriaโ€™s company into bankruptcyโ€”quickly and legally.

Chapter 206: Secrets, Schemes, and Silent Battles (Continued)

She tried to wrap things up by sending a bank transferโ€”just to see if Easton had blocked or deleted her. Otherwise, why else would there be no response?

The moment she tapped to send the transfer, the screen suddenly switched to a voice call. She froze, momentarily stunned. She hadnโ€™t even pressed the voice call button. She looked closer and realized that Easton was the one who had started the voice call.

Eastonโ€™s response caught Maya completely off guard. Answering felt wrong, but ignoring it didnโ€™t seem right either.

She grabbed her phone and walked into Ellisโ€™s room. โ€œEllis,โ€ she asked, โ€œEastonโ€™s calling. Should I answer it?โ€

After finishing her nighttime routine, Ellis sat at her vanity, gently smoothing skincare products over her face. Hearing Mayaโ€™s words, Ellis turned her head in surprise. She glanced at the screen twice, confirming the name before asking, puzzled, โ€œWhy is he calling? What did you say to him before this?โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t say anything. His reply was just a voice call,โ€ Maya said, equally confused about what Easton wanted to say.

โ€œGo ahead and answer it. Put it on speaker.โ€

โ€œAlright.โ€

Maya tapped the accept button and sat down at the vanity as well, ready to gauge Ellisโ€™s reaction before deciding how to respond.

โ€œIs Ellis with you?โ€ Easton opened with that question, his tone cold and distant, with a hint of arrogance. Maya and Ellis exchanged uncertain looks, unsure of what he was getting at.

Seeing Ellis shake her head, Maya quicklyโ€ฆ
