Chapter 253: Remarry

He had tried melatonin and sleeping pills, but it wasn’t very effective. He could sleep with the help of medication, but his sleep was short, so he felt tired easily. Tonight, Easton didn’t want to take the pills anymore. He tossed the bottle aside before sleep.

The bottle of pills rolled to the side of the wall. Above the wall, there was a wedding photo of Ellis and him. When he looked, he could see her beautiful smile, and just the photo… He wished so badly to be able to sleep beside her and see her in real life. He wanted to find her, but after investigating, he found out she had gone on a business trip. She wouldn’t be back for a long time. The constant thought of Ellis manifested into missing her.

He missed Ellis. He missed her smile, her hugs, and her embrace. Everything he once had was now nothing more than an unbearable illusion. Maybe it was the relentless torment of insomnia. Whatever it was, he desperately wanted to remarry Ellis.

But how could he make her agree to remarry him? The thought alone was enough to drive away any lingering drowsiness. Giving up on sleep entirely, Easton got out of bed and went to his study.

He began scrolling through all the memories of him and Ellis stored on his devices. The more he looked, the stronger the urge became to reach out to her and say, “Yes, I regret divorcing you. Will you marry me again?”

How would she respond? Would she refuse? Accept? Or lose her temper? The moment those three possibilities formed in his mind, he instinctively ruled out acceptance. Ellis would most likely blow up at him first, then reject him.

After all, she didn’t seem the least bit interested in getting back together with him. The moment she initiated the divorce, she had been firm about it, and there was no hesitation from her. It was like she wanted to stay away from him, like she was happy as long as he never showed up in her life. She didn’t seem to have any attachment to him either. The sudden realization left Easton with a faint sense of defeat.

Placing the tablet back where it belonged, he suppressed the urge to be the one actively seeking remarriage. He returned to his room, but the moment his eyes landed on their wedding photo, he could no longer hold back the longing in his heart.

Without a second thought, he dialed Ellis’s number from a new phone. On the other side of the world, Ellis was basking in the sun, thoroughly enjoying her time.

Her phone rang. Seeing an unfamiliar number from Stonebridge, she hesitated for a moment. There was no contact name saved, so she wasn’t sure if it was someone she knew. But since she was in a good mood, she decided to pick up.

“Hello.” That simple, indifferent greeting reached Easton’s ears like the sweetest melody. In that moment, the exhaustion from his insomnia and the ache of longing both eased just a little.

The corner of his lips lifted. “It’s me, Easton.”

Ellis was speechless. After the divorce, her ex-husband had been acting strange. She started to think if she had owed him in a past life. What the hell did he want from his ex-wife?

She immediately hung up and was about to block him when she received a text from him: “The question you asked me that day. I have an answer now. Yes. I want to remarry you.”

Ellis thought she was hallucinating when she saw it. After blinking for a while and making sure it was true, her jaw dropped. He crazy? He wants to remarry the “ungrateful” ex-wife? For real? She almost threw her phone away out of shock.

She was in a beautiful place with breathtaking scenery, but now, she had no mood to admire it anymore.

Chapter 253: Remarry - Finished

She was puzzled by Easton’s behavior, so confused that she started to think if there were no other women out there, making him want to remarry her.

“What?!” Maya widened her eyes. “My god! I guessed it!”

She knew it! A man wouldn’t suddenly spend so much on his ex-wife unless he had intentions. There, Easton had revealed his goal.

Ellis massaged her temples. “What should I do?”

“You don’t wanna remarry him, so just reject him.”

“Give me suggestions on how to do that.”

Maya racked her brain for a solution but couldn’t come up with anything better than telling Ellis to reject him outright.

Ellis wasn’t sure how to turn him down at first, but after discussing it with Maya, she knew exactly what to do—ignore him and pretend she never saw his messages.

Whatever Easton’s reasons were, one thing was certain… He wasn’t asking for a remarriage out of love. So why should she even bother responding? Sometimes, saying nothing was the best response.
