Chapter 547

Seeing everyone had eaten the drugged food, the servant felt relieved, his mission complete. He glanced at his people, then ignored their conversation and quietly retreated. The drug was potent; within twenty minutes, they would all fall asleep, a sleep from which they would not awaken. Even a collapsing sky wouldn't rouse them from their unconscious slumber in the castle until death arrived.

The servants vanished in an instant, leaving the untouched plates on the table. Perhaps they deemed it pointless to waste energy on such trifles, given the group's impending doom.

Tiffany observed silently, speaking to June as if nothing were amiss. When the servant closed the door, she yawned languidly, feigning sleepiness.

"Da." The door clicked shut.

Tiffany raised an eyebrow and winked. "Play for a while?"

Of course, she didn't mean cards.

June understood instantly, smiling and nodding. "Okay."

The dining room grew quiet.

Twenty minutes later, the servant, deeming it time, cautiously opened the door and peeked inside. The group lay sprawled across chairs and sofas in the opulent dining room, their awkward sleeping positions betraying the drug's effect. They'd simply collapsed where they sat or stood.

The servant smirked, feeling utterly secure—until a cold breeze brushed his neck. He looked up, confused, to see silver-haired Garry staring back, a mocking smile playing on his lips.

"You" the servant stammered, bewildered and shocked. "You're fine? How can you be?"

Garry ignored him, slashing him with his knife. The servant slumped, unconscious. Garry tossed him to a subordinate feigning sleep, whose eyes instantly snapped open. The subordinate swiftly bound the servant with rope from the dining table. The dining room door closed again.

The servant outside waited, impatiently. His companion didn't emerge, so he pushed open the door, saying, "What are you waiting for? It's almost time! Hurry"

Before he could finish, his vision blacked out. The same fate befell the third servant. All the castle's servants were bound in moments. A basin of water splashed onto one's face.

The lead servant awoke to Tiffany's smiling face.

"Even family needs to be tidy. How about this?" Tiffany said.

The servant's heart pounded as he looked around in shock. Everyone who'd eaten the drugged food was perfectly fine, clear-eyed and alert.

"How how can you all be alright? Could it be" he stammered.

Could it be something wrong with the drug Morwen had someone give me? Otherwise, how could so many be unaffected? he thought.

Tiffany laughed. "Why don't you try it?" She snapped her fingers. Garry and the others understood, pouring the remaining wine into their mouths. Those who resisted had their noses pinched until they drank.

Practice is the only test of truth. Could the wine knock one out? A test would prove it.

Everyone was forced to drink. Within six to seven minutes, their eyes glazed over, heads nodding, sleep overwhelming them.

"Let's go," Tiffany said.

Before leaving the dining room, she ordered her subordinates, "Untie them." They'd taken the drug; there was no need to keep them bound. When Morwen attacked, their escape would be fate.

"Yes."

June untied the last servant as everyone followed Tiffany—not out of the villa, but to the kitchen.

Garry scratched his head. "Tiffany, I observed this afternoon; the west defense is weakest. We should break through there." He implied she shouldn't shelter them in the kitchen, making them easy targets.

Tiffany ignored him, continuing onward. Garry tried to argue, but June stopped him. "Miss Kelley has her reasons, Mr. York. Just follow her."

June trusted Tiffany implicitly.

Garry sighed and fell silent. Tiffany reached the kitchen's furthest point, stopping before a storage room door. She kicked it open with a loud bang.

No one understood. Garry felt anxious, wanting to pull Tiffany away. But he was stunned. Behind the door wasn't a storage room, but a secret passage!

Such a mystery! How does Tiffany know? The question crossed Garry and John's minds. They followed her into the passage.

As they entered, at 8 p.m., a loud explosion rocked the castle, followed by falling stones.

"BOOM!"

The ground shook. Bombs detonated continuously. Only the tunnel offered safety.

Garry gasped. Had he not followed Tiffany, they would have been sitting ducks. A wave of fear washed over him. "Tiffany, whatever you say from now on, I won't doubt it."

Tiffany chuckled. "Stop joking. Let's go."

The crisis wasn't over; more danger likely awaited.
