Chapter 548
The secret passage was very long. Though merely an underground passage, its opulent construction—beautiful detailing and constantly burning lights—suggested a wealthy or noble patron. Many murals adorned the walls, adding to the exquisite effect.
Garry and his companions, after studying it, finally asked, "Where does this lead? Even a secret passage is this lavish. The Azure Sea Royal Family is wealthy, rightfully holding the second-largest economy."
If one were to ask who possessed the greatest wealth and power, it would be Richard. The Azure Sea Royal Family, with its countless rare treasures and medicinal herbs, had consistently held second place for years. However, its influence had waned over the past decade due to its low profile and avoidance of world affairs.
June assessed the situation and asked, "Miss Kelley, does this passage lead to Morwen Castle?"
Tiffany looked at June with admiration, smiling. "June, you know me best." Their understanding needed no words; a glance sufficed. Their tacit understanding surpassed that of others.
Garry, upon hearing this, exclaimed, "What? It leads to Morwen's residence? Excellent! I was worried about missing my chance to catch her. I'll have to tie her up later." He never struck women, but Morwen had repeatedly attacked Tiffany; death was her destiny.
He moved closer to Tiffany, asking, "Tiffany, why are you so familiar with this place? How do you know about this hidden passage?"
They were all under house arrest in the castle, constantly shadowed by more than ten servants. This supposed service was, in fact, imprisonment. Therefore, confidential conversations, let alone escape plans, were impossible. Their information was severely limited, making a direct, albeit risky, charge through the weakest defense seem the only option. Garry had even prepared his subordinates for a fierce battle.
Tiffany’s knowledge of the passage saved them considerable time and effort. Garry circled Tiffany, intensely curious. "Tiffany, just tell me."
"You want to hear it?" Tiffany asked.
She thought, He probably won't believe me.
"Yes," Garry nodded immediately.
"Because I lived here."
Tiffany's nonchalant tone stunned Garry, who then chuckled. "Tiffany, you're very good at joking."
He clearly didn't believe her. Tiffany didn't explain, as they reached the passage's end—a stone door seemingly operated by a mechanism, impossible to open by force alone. Tiffany touched a wall mural, pressing the eye of a Goddess depicted there. A mechanism whirred, and the stone door slowly opened.
"Let's go," Tiffany said, leading the way. June followed closely.
Emerging from the passage, they found themselves in a luxurious underground parking lot filled with expensive cars. Morwen lived well, indeed. Yet, the Azure Sea Royal Family had fostered such a traitor!
Tiffany pressed the elevator button. They ascended to the third floor, where Morwen's bedroom was located.
As they stepped onto the third floor, the corridor's surveillance system detected unauthorized faces, triggering an alarm.
Tiffany instructed, "June, with me. Garry, take your men left. John, take yours right. There aren't many guards; subdue them all."
This was Tiffany's first instruction since arriving at the Azure Sea Royal Family. Garry, foregoing his levity, nodded seriously. "Yes." John likewise nodded, leading his men. All of Tiffany’s subordinates were deployed, leaving only June with Tiffany.
"Let's go," Tiffany said.
Swinging her switchblade, she and June raced towards Morwen's bedroom. The entire floor was dedicated to Morwen’s opulent quarters, featuring a magnificent gold-flowered door and a Persian carpet inlaid with emeralds and pearls—exquisite enough for a princess.
Tiffany was about to kick the door when June intervened. "Miss Kelley, let me." She used a hairpin to unlock the door.
The seemingly impregnable stone door opened. Tiffany raised an eyebrow and entered. The castle alarm continued to blare.
Morwen lay in a rose-oil bath, seemingly unfazed by the alarm. Lazily, she asked, "Who's there?"
Footsteps approached, unanswered. The servants are getting bolder, Morwen thought.
Anger grew. "Who the hell is here? Are you deaf or mute?"
Then, she saw Tiffany. Shock sent her tumbling into the bath. Flustered, she struggled to regain her footing.
"You… you're not dead?" Morwen asked, aghast.
Ten minutes prior, her men had reported Tiffany and her companions blown up in the dining room; their disfigured corpses remained. The explosion had caused a collapse, further obscuring identification. She'd believed them. With her main threat eliminated, she'd relaxed, enjoying her bath.
"You're really lucky," Morwen sneered, vigilance in her eyes. She reached for the alarm beside the tub, but Tiffany's swift approach interrupted her.
Tiffany smiled faintly. "How shall I treat you? Kill you directly?"
