Chapter 124
In Kingsley Manor, Gloria hung up the phone with knitted brows. Her dear daughter-in-law was badly wounded and couldn’t bear children anymore. What should she do now?
“Mom!” Here came Landon’s voice. Before Gloria could come up with a solution, both Landon and Amelia were back.
Gloria quickly composed herself and pretended to be ignorant of the bad news. “Why did you come home so early?” she asked casually.
“There wasn't as much to do at the company,” Landon said.
Gloria’s heart ached for Amelia’s swollen eyes. Worried, Gloria managed a gentle smile and said, “Well, I will leave you two alone and hang out with my friends.”
“Have a good time,” Amelia responded. She was glad that Gloria failed to perceive her sadness.
Landon took out a facial mask from the freezer and said, “Use it. Both your face and eyes are swollen.”
Amelia looked at herself in the mirror and found her face puffy. She felt great after the icy facial mask was put on her face.
She then asked hesitantly, “Should we break the bad news to Gloria?”
“Not for now. You may yet be cured.” Deep down, Landon felt restless. Nobody knew Gloria better than him.
Gloria wished Landon to raise a large family since her husband died. That was why she had insisted on Amelia’s stay. Children were her goal.
She might find herself a new daughter-in-law if she learned of Amelia’s sterility. Landon wouldn’t let that happen.
“Alright, your call, Honey,” Amelia said sweetly, though she was in distress.
With a facial mask on, Amelia pulled Landon closer and started massaging his legs.
Landon was such a good man that Amelia sincerely prayed for his early recovery.
“Don’t,” Landon suddenly stopped Amelia from massaging his legs.
Amelia became puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
Landon lowered his gaze to hide his growing desire. “From now on, you don’t have to massage me anymore.”
“I am not tired.” Amelia gently moved his hand aside and continued massaging. “It is common for lovers to look after each other.”
At the mention of lovers, her pale face blushed with shyness. She had fallen for her husband after they got married. How interesting!
“Honey…” Landon held Amelia’s hands again and cleared his throat awkwardly. “I want fruit.”
“Give me a sec.” Amelia cheerfully got up and left to prepare a bowl of fresh fruit.
Landon let out a soft sigh and slightly moved his legs in the wheelchair.
He had become highly sensitive since the recovery of his legs. Amelia’s massage could excite him…
“Mr. Kingsley.” Right then, Aaron arrived with a stern face. “Mr. Kingsley, I found the Hughes family.”
Alerted by Aaron’s grave expression, Landon asked as his expression changed, “And?”
Aaron answered, “The youngest daughter of the Hughes family, Catherine Hughes, is Daniel’s biological mother. It is weird about her appearance.” Aaron handed Landon a photograph.
Landon glanced at the photo and froze in place. “Debra?”
“They’re the spitting image of each other. I also think that Catherine is Debra.”
Landon’s eyebrows were deeply knitted. If Debra were Catherine, Amelia would become Daniel’s half-sister.
“Mr. Kingsley, Porter Zuckerberg was a widower. He didn’t get divorced. I got the same information from the Hughes family,” Aaron reported.
Landon was thunderstruck by the news. If Porter, blinded by love, killed Catherine for his mistress, the Hughes family wouldn’t spare him.
However, Catherine looked the same as Debra. “Does Catherine have a twin sister?” Landon asked.
“No. It is confirmed,” Aaron replied.
Landon couldn’t help but wonder, “Did Catherine fake her own death? But why?”
“Honey, how do you like these fruits?” Amelia reappeared with a bowl of fruits. The apples, strawberries, and blueberries were arranged in an orderly way.
Landon shot Aaron a glance, and Aaron quietly slipped the photo into his pocket. “Great,” Landon said.
“The strawberries are sweet. Try some, Honey,” Amelia said.
“Coming,” Landon responded.
The atmosphere in the room was sweet. Aaron smiled at the loving couple and quietly retreated. With Catherine’s photo, he headed straight to see Diana.
