Chapter 191

“Amelia, it’s okay. Don’t worry,” Daniel said, putting down his phone and gently shaking Amelia.

Amelia’s tears streamed down her face, her mind completely dazed. “Daniel, is Landon…”

She just couldn’t bring herself to say the word “accident.”

She was terrified that saying it out loud would be like putting a curse on Landon.

“Silly girl, stop overthinking. Don’t you know who Landon is? Anyone who tries to mess with him is basically going up against the government!” Daniel said.

“Then how come we can’t reach him?” Amelia asked.

“It could just be a signal issue. Or maybe he got called away on some urgent mission, so he can’t come back to Lunova or get in touch with us right now,” Daniel replied.

Amelia couldn’t think of any urgent mission that would be so serious that he couldn’t even contact his family.

“But Patrick’s back now. He could’ve at least brought some news, right?” she asked.

“Just look at your husband–he’s got skills, managed to track down the missing guy. But Patrick hates your family to the core. Don’t expect him to say anything helpful. Honestly, asking him is a waste of time.”

Daniel tried to sound casual, though deep down he was feeling pretty uneasy himself.

Landon had gone to Ausposh this time for one reason only–to find Patrick.

Now that Patrick had been found, Landon was still missing.

He hadn’t even sent back a single word through Patrick.

Something must have really happened to Landon.

“Amelia, don’t worry. Mr. Kingsley is so capable. He’ll definitely be fine,” Edith chimed in, trying to comfort her.

“You’re carrying a life now. The most important thing is to take care of yourself. If anything happens to you, how will you explain it to Landon when he comes back?”

Amelia slowly started to calm down.

She couldn’t let anything happen to the baby inside her.

After a long time, she was finally going to be a mom. She had to keep her child safe, no matter what.

“Amelia, I’ll take you back to Lunova first,” Daniel said, making a quick decision.

Amelia was already on the verge of a breakdown. She wasn’t in any condition to stay here and keep arguing with Aiden.

“How long until we get Paloma’s DNA test results?” Amelia asked.

Daniel thought for a moment. “The day after tomorrow.”

“Then I’ll wait. Once the results are out, we can head back together,” Amelia said.

Daniel didn’t want her going back alone, so he agreed. “Alright. But promise me you’ll keep calm.”

“Okay,” she nodded.

Amelia took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down.

After all, she’d gone through way more unfairness than most people could imagine, she was way tougher than most.

In the end, she finally calmed down.

She gently placed one hand on her belly while the other kept scrolling through her phone.

She was hoping for any news or a call from Landon.

Even a message from Aaron would do.

Or even just a social media post would’ve been enough–just so she could feel their presence.

But there was nothing.

Amelia couldn’t do anything else. Aside from eating and sleeping, all she did was her phone.

Her phone was almost worn out from all the scrolling, but there was still no news about Landon.

Daniel could only watch, helpless and worried as ever.

He pulled Edith aside. “Can you keep her company? Chat with her, distract her a bit–just don’t let her get lost in her own thoughts.”

“What are you thinking, Daniel?” Edith asked.

Daniel lowered his voice, his expression grave. “I’ve talked to Tuff, but he can’t reach Landon either. I’m afraid… this isn’t good.”

“So that’s why you agreed to let her stay in Dreicean?” Edith’s face fell.

“Yes.”

Daniel was so worried, his brows were practically tied in knots.

Paloma’s true identity was about to be revealed, so they’d only be stuck in Dreicean for another couple of days at most.

But he absolutely had to find Landon before they went back home.

Or at least figure out some other way to make Amelia believe Landon was really okay.

This was way too hard. He felt like his brain was about to burn out.

“Daniel, I’m so scared,” Edith said, clutching her chest. “Amelia loves Landon so much…”

People who didn’t love each other were destined to part ways, just like her and Daniel.

But if they loved each other, she couldn’t understand why they still had to be torn apart.

“Edith…” Daniel called softly, his voice full of worry. “We can’t just sit by. We have to help them!”

Edith dabbed at her eyes, grabbed a few pieces of fruit, and headed to the living room. “I’ll get a fruit platter ready. From now on, I’ll look after her. You take care of everything else.”

Daniel blinked back his tears, forcing himself to stay strong.

In Edith, he saw a kind of unwavering strength–like she was a shield standing tall for everyone.

Chapter 191

That night, Amelia had another nightmare.

It seemed like every time her nerves got too tight, that same nightmare would come back–she’d find herself trapped inside the Amber Vase, unable to escape.

When she woke up, she was drenched in cold.

“Amelia, you’re up? Come have some breakfast,” Edith said, her smile as warm as sunshine.

Amelia kept it all to herself, not daring to tell anyone.

Amelia felt a little more at ease and asked, “Where’s Daniel?”

“He went out,” Edith replied.

She set out breakfast, a fruit platter, and some milk for Amelia.

“Since you’re pregnant, you need to eat more so the baby grows strong!”

Amelia pushed down her worries and ate with all her might.

‘Yeah, I need to stay strong and patient,’ she told herself. ‘Landon will definitely come back safe and sound!’

Just as she finished breakfast, Aiden showed up in person.

“Good morning, Mrs. Kingsley!” he called out.

Amelia couldn’t help but feel irritated the moment she heard his voice. She signaled to Edith to send him away.

“Mr. Kyle, Amelia’s still sleeping,” Edith said through the door.

Aiden chuckled, “Pregnant ladies sure do love their sleep. Come on, Ms. Meyers, just open up–I’ll wait inside.”

“No way. Daniel said you’re not allowed in,” Edith shot back. “Mr. Kyle, you better head back now, or I’ll have to call for help.”

“Ms. Meyers, you know me well. I mean no harm to any of you–there’s really no need to be so defensive,” Aiden said, his brows drawing together as impatience crept into his voice.

He’d finally found a chance when Daniel wasn’t around and hurried over to check on Amelia, only to be blocked at the door.

The news about Landon going missing should have been properly delivered as early as yesterday.

He figured Amelia must be heartbroken by now, and he needed to get in there and be there for her.

“Mr. Kyle, come on, don’t put me in a tough spot!” Edith said, her tone both pleading and firm.

“Ms. Meyers, don’t make me kick this door down,” Aiden warned, his patience clearly running thin.

“Mr. Kyle, don’t make me call the cops on you,” Edith shot back without hesitation.

She was quick on her feet and always ready with a response.

For every word Aiden said, she fired right back without missing a beat.

Aiden was speechless.

He’d really underestimated Edith.

“Amelia, I know you can hear me! I’m here to cheer you up. Don’t be so down! Even if Landon’s gone, you’ve still got me to look after you, ouch!”

Chapter 191

His grand speech was abruptly cut off by a sudden yelp of pain.

It turned out, Daniel had just come back.

His tall, lean figure radiated an air of absolute authority.

And right behind him stood over a dozen bodyguards from the Zuckerberg family, all flown in from Lunova.

“Mr. Kyle, are you leaving on your own, or do I need to show you the way out?” Daniel asked coldly, his presence alone was intimidating enough.

Aiden, clutching his bleeding forehead, awkwardly slunk away.

Edith opened the door, looking at Daniel with nothing but pure admiration. “You’re finally back!”

“Were you scared?” Daniel asked.

In an instant, his icy demeanor melted into gentle concern.

“Not at all,” Edith replied, waving her phone. “I wasn’t scared of him, I was all set to call the cops if I had to.”

Daniel looked a bit annoyed. “Why didn’t you call me?”

“Weren’t you busy? And besides, you probably couldn’t beat him by yourself…” Edith glanced at the thermos in Daniel’s hand, then quickly changed her tune. “Wait, of course you could! You’re awesome!”

Daniel cleared his throat in embarrassment, his handsome face turned red. It was a rare sight.

“I brought some mushroom soup. Let’s go inside.”

“Okay,” she nodded.

Amelia lounged on the couch, resting her chin in her hand. “Daniel, you’re late! You totally missed how Edith handled Aiden–she was seriously sharp!

Edith scratched her head, a little embarrassed. “Honestly, I never knew I could talk back like that…”

Daniel shot Edith a meaningful glance, then poured her a bowl of mushroom soup. “You must be tired. Here, have some soup. It’ll do you good.”

“Thanks,” Edith replied.

Edith wasn’t actually tired, but Daniel’s mushroom soup was a rare treat. She wasn’t about to pass it up.

Before her brain could even catch up, her hand had already grabbed the bowl.

Daniel said, “From now on, I’m assigning ten bodyguards to watch over you and Amelia.”

“Yes! I love that!” Edith beamed–she always enjoyed having extra protection.

After sipping the soup, Edith suddenly remembered something and asked, “Aiden said there was a woman who told him all about you. Amelia, any idea who that could be?”

“I don’t really have many friends, and I’m not the type to open up about my life. There really shouldn’t be anyone who knows me that well,” Amelia said, but then her words suddenly cut off.

‘Sandra!’ Amelia thought.

Sandra was someone who knew all about Amelia’s past with Zachary, knew she wasn’t really the Edwards family’s daughter, and knew she had taken over the Edwards Group to avenge her mother.

‘Is it really her?’ she wondered.
