Listen to this chapter:

“Aiden, don’t forget you’re a Kyle!” Eddie said coldly. “Get out. I have something to discuss with Poppy.”

Aiden slowly backed out, the murderous intent in his eyes growing stronger with every step. ‘Dad, you forced my hand…’

But the moment he stepped out and closed the door, someone seized him from behind, pinning him in place.

A familiar voice sounded right by his ear, “Don’t move.”

‘Landon?’ Aiden’s mind reeled in shock.

The Kington Gang elites who had been guarding the door had somehow been swapped out for a new crew.

And now, the one pressing a gun to his temple was none other than Landon–the man who was supposed to be dead!

“Aren’t you dead?” Aiden blurted out, his voice shaking with disbelief.

“We’ll talk when she’s finished,” Landon said, jerking his chin toward Eddie’s room.

Aiden’s expression shifted several times before he finally stammered, lips trembling, “She… she’s my sister?”

Landon nodded, a bit more understanding in his eyes as he looked at Aiden.

It was clear Aiden truly saw Kayla as his real sister. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have killed Aiden five years ago, and he definitely wouldn’t have killed his own father and seized power today just to save Kayla.

‘For that kind of loyalty, I’ll let him live,’ Landon thought.

“You guys… what are you…” Aiden stammered, his voice trembling with shock.

“Shh,” Landon hissed.

Landon shot him a look, gesturing for him to stay silent.

Aiden was shaking with anxiety. “She can’t handle this alone! Let me go help her!”

“That’s not necessary,” Landon replied coolly.

Landon shook his head. ‘Tuff’s in there. Nothing to worry about.’

Tuff had promised over and over that he’d never let Kayla get hurt again.

Inside the room, Kayla had fully slipped into Poppy’s persona, listening intently as Eddie laid out his instructions.

Once he finished, she asked respectfully, “Mr. Kyle, what if Aiden tries to stop me?”

“Tie him up,” Eddie said without hesitation.

“But I can’t beat him,” Kayla replied, her voice steady but uncertain.

Eddie chuckled softly and picked up a syringe from the table. “Use this. It’ll make him cooperate.”

“Yes, sir,” Kayla replied, a cold shiver running down her spine.

She knew all too well what that syringe meant–back when she disobeyed, her previous guardian would inject her with drugs to keep her in line.

‘Now Mr. Kyle wants to use the same thing on his own son?’

‘He really doesn’t see Aiden as his son at all,’ Kayla thought.

Kayla stepped forward to take the syringe.

But just as her fingers were about to touch it, Tuff suddenly darted over like lightning.

Without a second thought, Kayla whipped out the short knife hidden in her sleeve and drove it straight into Eddie’s heart.

At the same time, Mrs. Kyle, who was sitting by the table, had already been killed with a knife by Tuff.

Mrs. Kyle never even realized what happened before she died.

“You’re… Paloma?” Eddie gasped.

He gripped the knife with both hands, using every ounce of strength to keep it from plunging deeper.

At last, he realized–the person before him wasn’t the stand-in he’d raised, Poppy, but Kayla herself!

Kayla pressed the blade down harder. “That’s right! I’m Paloma–and I’m also Kayla, the eldest daughter of the Kingsley family!”

“How could you possibly be here?” Eddie gasped through the pain. “You were supposed to be with Poppy–how could you…”

“Poppy’s dead,” Kayla said coldly. “My brother killed her himself.”

Eddie’s eyes went wide with disbelief. “How is that possible? Wasn’t Landon supposed to be dead?”

Just then, Landon pushed the door open and walked in.

“I’m right here,” Landon said as he entered.

“You… you’re not dead?” Eddie gasped.

“Yeah,” Landon shot back.

Kayla pressed the knife down even harder, and Eddie shouted, “Don’t kill me! I can help you get the chips out of your brains!”

“Don’t trust him. He can’t do it,” Aiden said, his voice cold.

Aiden walked in, his face dark and stormy.

Eddie looked from Aiden to Landon, so furious he coughed up blood. “You wretched son! You’re actually teaming up with them to take down your own father?”

“And when did you ever not think about hurting me?” Aiden snapped, snatching the syringe off the floor.

Eddie protested, “I was doing it for your own good!”

“Don’t lie to me. You never loved me. All you ever cared about was my brother,” Aiden said bitterly, rolling the syringe between his fingers. “Even after he died all those years ago, you never once thought about letting me run the Kington Gang, did you?”

“That’s not true…” Eddie stammered.

“You’d rather groom Landen to be your successor than ever consider me,” Aiden spat, his voice icy with resentment.

Aiden placed his hand over Kayla’s, steadying her grip.

“I don’t care about any of that. All I ever wanted was for Kayla and Landen to live in peace. So why did you have to hurt her?” Aiden asked, his voice tight with emotion as he pressed down harder.

The blade slowly sank into Eddie’s heart.

He finally lost all strength to resist, his hands slipping away.

“Dad, you loved my brother so much. Go join him and Mom. I’ll take care of the family from now on,” Aiden said, his voice cold and resolute.

By the time Aiden finished speaking, the blade had already driven straight through Eddie’s chest.

Eddie stared at him, eyes wide open in death, unable to rest in peace.

After a lifetime spent tormenting others, to die at the hands of his own son–how could he possibly accept this? The injustice burned in his dying gaze.

Kayla let go, her voice full of tenderness. “Aiden…”

“Sis…” Aiden choked out.

Just moments ago, Aiden had been ruthless and cold-blooded, but now he completely broke down, clinging to Kayla and sobbing his heart out.

“Why didn’t they ever love me? Why? I’m their kid too…” Aiden cried, his voice shaking with pain.

“You’re all grown up now, Aiden. Who cares if they never loved you?” Kayla whispered softly, comforting him.

Just like all those times before, whenever Aiden felt wronged, Kayla would always be there to comfort him.

The Kyle family’s blood ran dark–every last one of them was obsessive and ruthless.

Luckily, Aiden only inherited the obsession, not his brother’s bloodlust or madness.

Landon watched the two of them and couldn’t help but feel a little jealous.

‘I’m the real sibling here!’ he grumbled inwardly.

Tuff tugged at his sleeve and asked, “Did you handle the Atkinson family?”

“Thanks to him, it’s all taken care of,” Landon said, jerking his chin at Aiden.

Honestly, dealing with the Atkinsons would’ve been a pain, but Aiden brought in a ton of people.

The Atkinson family, completely unprepared, fell apart in an instant.

Klein and Elaine were both hauled off by the cops. With those organized crime charges, they’d be rotting in prison for years.

“Didn’t think he actually cared that much about Kayla. So what are you planning to do with him?” Tuff asked.

Landon just made a face and didn’t comment.

He’d originally planned to get rid of Aiden too, but seeing how genuinely he felt about his sister, he decided to let him go for now.

But that was only if the Kington Gang kept their hands clean under his rule–no more dirty business.

“Sis, waaaaah…” Aiden could really cry a river.

Landon and Tuff had been waiting for half an hour, and he was still at it.

Seriously, was this guy made of water or something?

In the end, it was Kayla who finally managed to calm him down. “Aiden, enough with the tears. You’re the boss now–there’s a ton of decisions waiting for you.”

“If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t even care about being the boss of the Kington Gang,” Aiden sniffled, wiping his eyes, looking a little aggrieved. “Sis, you’re going back to the Kingsley family, right?”

“Yes,” Kayla smiled. “My family’s been searching for me for years. I’m going back.”

“Sis…” Aiden gave her a complicated look. “I’m sorry…”

If it hadn’t been for her brother keeping her confined by his side, she would’ve gone home a long time ago.

And he wouldn’t have had a sister, wouldn’t have been nurtured by her warmth, and wouldn’t have grown into the second son holding all the power in the Kyle family.

“Silly boy! If it weren’t for you, I’d be dead by now. I’ve never hated you,” Kayla said, affectionately patting his shoulder.

Aiden’s eyes slowly lit up again. “Really?”

“I remember how you killed Aiden to protect me all those years ago,” Kayla said softly.

Aiden was stunned. “You… you remember all of it?”

“Yeah,” Kayla nodded. “I remember everything from my time with the Kyle family.”

Even all those miserable memories I wish I could forget…

“Sis, don’t think about it! He’s gone!” Aiden darted over and pulled Kayla into a hug. “And now Dad’s dead too. No one can ever hurt you again.”

“Mm,” Kayla murmured softly.
