Chapter 113

Patrick shouted. He was truly distracted, completely forgetting that Amelia wasnโ€™t like the women he usually played around with. She was a rose with thorns.

โ€œAmelia, you dare to scald me?โ€ Patrick stared at Amelia in disbelief, his hand still firmly gripping hers.

Luckily, the coffee had been sitting there for a while, not freshly boiled. Otherwise, Patrick would have been peeling his skin off.

Amelia sneered, โ€œPatrick, sleeping with your cousinโ€™s wife is incest. Youโ€™d better snap out of it. Go sleep with Camila and let her give you a son.โ€

โ€œSo you knew all along.โ€ Patrick was furious.

Amelia said, โ€œI know everything about you, so stop wasting your time here. No matter how you play it, youโ€™re still a scumbag.โ€

Patrick didnโ€™t expect all his efforts to put on a show to turn into a farce in Ameliaโ€™s eyes. His anger grew, and as he jumped off the table, he unbuckled his belt with one hand. โ€œLick it.โ€

โ€œDream on.โ€ Amelia activated the rose ring on her hand, and Patrick was knocked down in an instant.

Before Patrick fell, he stared at Amelia in disbelief. He had trained in combat skills since he was a child, and yet she had taken him down.

โ€œItโ€™s done.โ€ Amelia was quite pleased with herself, wiping the sweat off her palms. โ€œThis ring is amazing. One hit and, itโ€™s all over.โ€

Just then, the door to the private room opened.

โ€œHoneyโ€ฆโ€ Ameliaโ€™s words froze. It wasnโ€™t Landon who enteredโ€“it was Camila.

โ€œThis jerk.โ€ Camila glanced at the scene and then dragged Patrick out.

Amelia blinked, confused. โ€œWhat is happening?โ€

โ€œGood job, Honey.โ€ Landon wheeled in, handing Amelia some alcohol wipes. โ€œBetter disinfect first.โ€

Amelia laughed, โ€œAlright.โ€

After wiping with the alcohol, Landon thoughtfully handed Amelia a warm towel.

โ€œDid you invite Camila?โ€ Amelia asked.

โ€œYep.โ€ Landon nodded, then winked. โ€œLet me tell you another secret. The little chubby kid you saw yesterday is Patrickโ€™s son.โ€

โ€œUh?โ€ Amelia was stunned. She thought, โ€˜As if incest wasnโ€™t bad enough, and they even have a kid?โ€™

Then, Amelia remembered Camilaโ€™s behavior from a couple of days ago, and she finally understood. โ€œSo, Camila wasnโ€™t forced all those years ago actually went along with it?โ€

Landon said, โ€œI have no idea. All I know is Camila is now working hard to create a happy life for her son. As soon as I asked, she came right over.โ€

Amelia was speechless. โ€˜Todayโ€™s been a lot to take in,โ€™ she thought. She took a few seconds to process the reality.

โ€œGreat, now that Camila is keeping an eye on Patrick, he wonโ€™t come after me again.โ€ Amelia was genuinely relieved.

Landon chuckled as he pulled Ameliaโ€™s hand, โ€œWere you scared just now?โ€

โ€œA little. But when I thought of you being next door, I wasnโ€™t afraid anymore,โ€ Amelia said sincerely. โ€œIโ€™m so glad you came today.โ€

Landon said, โ€œIf anything happens, tell me. Donโ€™t shoulder it alone.โ€

Amelia replied, โ€œOkay.โ€

Landon suggested, โ€œLetโ€™s go eat.โ€

โ€œMm.โ€ Amelia pushed the wheelchair slowly forward.

Amelia had to admit that Patrick had chosen a beautiful spot with rockeries, a fountain, and a serene, elegant atmosphere. Sheโ€™d have loved to sit with Landon for coffee and snacks if not for what had just happened.

As they walked, something caught Ameliaโ€™s eye. โ€œA vase?โ€

โ€œHmm?โ€ Landon followed Ameliaโ€™s gaze. On the main hallโ€™s rack stood a delicate vase. It was about one foot tall and made entirely of amber, with a phoenix carved into the body.

โ€œDo you like it?โ€ Landon smiled knowingly, already thinking about buying the vase for Amelia.

Amelia said, โ€œThis vase, itโ€™s embroidered on Danielโ€™s handkerchief. As soon as I saw it, it felt familiar. Do you think it could be connected to something from my childhood?โ€

Landon finally understood why Amelia had accepted Danielโ€™s handkerchief. He was thrilled and immediately instructed Aaron, โ€œI want to meet the owner here.โ€

โ€œUnderstood,โ€ Aaron replied.

It wasnโ€™t long before the restaurantโ€™s owner arrived. When he saw Landon, he greeted him with a polite bow. โ€œMr. Kingsley, itโ€™s an honor to have you visit.โ€

โ€œYou are too kind.โ€ Landon nodded. โ€œThe vase on this rack is quite unique.โ€

โ€œMr. Kingsley, you have a sharp eye. This is an antique from three thousand years ago,โ€ Marlon James said with a smile. โ€œYou may not know, but this restaurant only turned profitable after we placed this Amber Vase here.โ€

โ€œAmber Vaseโ€ฆโ€ Amelia murmured, and a distant memory suddenly rushed back. She heard a vague voice in her ear, โ€œAmy, this is a phoenixโ€ฆ This vase is my gift for youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œItโ€™s my familyโ€™s stuff,โ€ Amelia blurted out, startling Marlon.

Marlon said, โ€œOh dear, Mrs. Kingsley, this vase was expensive.โ€

โ€œHow expensive?โ€ Landon asked, his tone flat.

Marlon grew a bit embarrassed. โ€œIโ€™m sorry for showing off in front of Mr. Kingsley. I bought this vase for three million dollars.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll offer 10 million dollars,โ€ Landon said.

Marlon hesitated. He thought, โ€˜Selling it would bring years of profit at once.โ€™ But the vase had turned his business around, and he was reluctant to let it go.

โ€œFifteen million dollars.โ€ Landon upped the offer.

Marlon nearly fainted from excitement. โ€œMr. Kingsley, such a generous offer. Itโ€™s a deal.โ€

Aaron immediately went with Marlon to finalize the paperwork. Amelia frowned as she looked at Landon, โ€œAre you really planning to buy it for me?โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Landon smiled and nodded. A smile from Amelia was worth more than anything. He just wanted her to be happy.

Amelia said, โ€œItโ€™s too expensiveโ€ฆโ€

โ€œItโ€™s just 15 million dollars.โ€ Landon didnโ€™t mind. โ€œAaron will ask about the vaseโ€™s history once the dealโ€™s done.โ€

Amelia said, โ€œWhen I was little, my mom told me about the vase. She saidโ€ฆโ€

Landon asked, โ€œWhat did she say?โ€

โ€œThat it was a gift for when I get married.โ€ Amelia felt a wave of sadness. A simple vase worth millions of dollarsโ€“Debraโ€™s background must have been remarkable. How tragic that her mind had been clouded, and she was manipulated by Walter. In the end, she died under mysterious circumstances.

โ€œA wedding gift? Well, that makes it even better,โ€ Landon said with a look of deep understanding. โ€œIโ€™ve brought back what belongs to us.โ€

Ameliaโ€™s sadness shifted to a flutter of shyness. She thought, โ€˜Us? Have we become one?โ€™

โ€œSince the Amber Vase is an antique, itโ€™s not far from Debraโ€™s background. Youโ€™ll need to prepare yourself,โ€ Landon said.

With the 70โ€“millionโ€“dollar tiara and the vase worth millions of dollars, Debraโ€™s origins were undoubtedly impressive. Even Landon, Noravaโ€™s richest man, felt a little pressure.

โ€œLandon, thank you.โ€ Amelia bit her lip, her heart racing. She wanted to say something but held back when she remembered Zacharyโ€™s schemes before her time travel. Amelia couldnโ€™t tell real love from fake. Until she was sure, she couldnโ€™t move forward.

Not long after, Aaron and Marlon returned. Marlon solemnly handed the vase to Amelia, saying, โ€œMr. Kingsley, I bought this from an antique dealer named Carlo Baker. He has some other good pieces from Pinecrest. If youโ€™re interested, you can check with him.โ€

โ€œThank you,โ€ Landon said, exchanging a look with Amelia. He thought, โ€˜Pinecrestโ€ฆ Isnโ€™t that where Debra lived? How many antiques did she have? Had Walter sold them all to Carlo?โ€™
