Chapter 113
Patrick shouted. He was truly distracted, completely forgetting that Amelia wasnโt like the women he usually played around with. She was a rose with thorns.
โAmelia, you dare to scald me?โ Patrick stared at Amelia in disbelief, his hand still firmly gripping hers.
Luckily, the coffee had been sitting there for a while, not freshly boiled. Otherwise, Patrick would have been peeling his skin off.
Amelia sneered, โPatrick, sleeping with your cousinโs wife is incest. Youโd better snap out of it. Go sleep with Camila and let her give you a son.โ
โSo you knew all along.โ Patrick was furious.
Amelia said, โI know everything about you, so stop wasting your time here. No matter how you play it, youโre still a scumbag.โ
Patrick didnโt expect all his efforts to put on a show to turn into a farce in Ameliaโs eyes. His anger grew, and as he jumped off the table, he unbuckled his belt with one hand. โLick it.โ
โDream on.โ Amelia activated the rose ring on her hand, and Patrick was knocked down in an instant.
Before Patrick fell, he stared at Amelia in disbelief. He had trained in combat skills since he was a child, and yet she had taken him down.
โItโs done.โ Amelia was quite pleased with herself, wiping the sweat off her palms. โThis ring is amazing. One hit and, itโs all over.โ
Just then, the door to the private room opened.
โHoneyโฆโ Ameliaโs words froze. It wasnโt Landon who enteredโit was Camila.
โThis jerk.โ Camila glanced at the scene and then dragged Patrick out.
Amelia blinked, confused. โWhat is happening?โ
โGood job, Honey.โ Landon wheeled in, handing Amelia some alcohol wipes. โBetter disinfect first.โ
Amelia laughed, โAlright.โ
After wiping with the alcohol, Landon thoughtfully handed Amelia a warm towel.
โDid you invite Camila?โ Amelia asked.
โYep.โ Landon nodded, then winked. โLet me tell you another secret. The little chubby kid you saw yesterday is Patrickโs son.โ
โUh?โ Amelia was stunned. She thought, โAs if incest wasnโt bad enough, and they even have a kid?โ
Then, Amelia remembered Camilaโs behavior from a couple of days ago, and she finally understood. โSo, Camila wasnโt forced all those years ago actually went along with it?โ
Landon said, โI have no idea. All I know is Camila is now working hard to create a happy life for her son. As soon as I asked, she came right over.โ
Amelia was speechless. โTodayโs been a lot to take in,โ she thought. She took a few seconds to process the reality.
โGreat, now that Camila is keeping an eye on Patrick, he wonโt come after me again.โ Amelia was genuinely relieved.
Landon chuckled as he pulled Ameliaโs hand, โWere you scared just now?โ
โA little. But when I thought of you being next door, I wasnโt afraid anymore,โ Amelia said sincerely. โIโm so glad you came today.โ
Landon said, โIf anything happens, tell me. Donโt shoulder it alone.โ
Amelia replied, โOkay.โ
Landon suggested, โLetโs go eat.โ
โMm.โ Amelia pushed the wheelchair slowly forward.
Amelia had to admit that Patrick had chosen a beautiful spot with rockeries, a fountain, and a serene, elegant atmosphere. Sheโd have loved to sit with Landon for coffee and snacks if not for what had just happened.
As they walked, something caught Ameliaโs eye. โA vase?โ
โHmm?โ Landon followed Ameliaโs gaze. On the main hallโs rack stood a delicate vase. It was about one foot tall and made entirely of amber, with a phoenix carved into the body.
โDo you like it?โ Landon smiled knowingly, already thinking about buying the vase for Amelia.
Amelia said, โThis vase, itโs embroidered on Danielโs handkerchief. As soon as I saw it, it felt familiar. Do you think it could be connected to something from my childhood?โ
Landon finally understood why Amelia had accepted Danielโs handkerchief. He was thrilled and immediately instructed Aaron, โI want to meet the owner here.โ
โUnderstood,โ Aaron replied.
It wasnโt long before the restaurantโs owner arrived. When he saw Landon, he greeted him with a polite bow. โMr. Kingsley, itโs an honor to have you visit.โ
โYou are too kind.โ Landon nodded. โThe vase on this rack is quite unique.โ
โMr. Kingsley, you have a sharp eye. This is an antique from three thousand years ago,โ Marlon James said with a smile. โYou may not know, but this restaurant only turned profitable after we placed this Amber Vase here.โ
โAmber Vaseโฆโ Amelia murmured, and a distant memory suddenly rushed back. She heard a vague voice in her ear, โAmy, this is a phoenixโฆ This vase is my gift for youโฆโ
โItโs my familyโs stuff,โ Amelia blurted out, startling Marlon.
Marlon said, โOh dear, Mrs. Kingsley, this vase was expensive.โ
โHow expensive?โ Landon asked, his tone flat.
Marlon grew a bit embarrassed. โIโm sorry for showing off in front of Mr. Kingsley. I bought this vase for three million dollars.โ
โIโll offer 10 million dollars,โ Landon said.
Marlon hesitated. He thought, โSelling it would bring years of profit at once.โ But the vase had turned his business around, and he was reluctant to let it go.
โFifteen million dollars.โ Landon upped the offer.
Marlon nearly fainted from excitement. โMr. Kingsley, such a generous offer. Itโs a deal.โ
Aaron immediately went with Marlon to finalize the paperwork. Amelia frowned as she looked at Landon, โAre you really planning to buy it for me?โ
โYeah,โ Landon smiled and nodded. A smile from Amelia was worth more than anything. He just wanted her to be happy.
Amelia said, โItโs too expensiveโฆโ
โItโs just 15 million dollars.โ Landon didnโt mind. โAaron will ask about the vaseโs history once the dealโs done.โ
Amelia said, โWhen I was little, my mom told me about the vase. She saidโฆโ
Landon asked, โWhat did she say?โ
โThat it was a gift for when I get married.โ Amelia felt a wave of sadness. A simple vase worth millions of dollarsโDebraโs background must have been remarkable. How tragic that her mind had been clouded, and she was manipulated by Walter. In the end, she died under mysterious circumstances.
โA wedding gift? Well, that makes it even better,โ Landon said with a look of deep understanding. โIโve brought back what belongs to us.โ
Ameliaโs sadness shifted to a flutter of shyness. She thought, โUs? Have we become one?โ
โSince the Amber Vase is an antique, itโs not far from Debraโs background. Youโll need to prepare yourself,โ Landon said.
With the 70โmillionโdollar tiara and the vase worth millions of dollars, Debraโs origins were undoubtedly impressive. Even Landon, Noravaโs richest man, felt a little pressure.
โLandon, thank you.โ Amelia bit her lip, her heart racing. She wanted to say something but held back when she remembered Zacharyโs schemes before her time travel. Amelia couldnโt tell real love from fake. Until she was sure, she couldnโt move forward.
Not long after, Aaron and Marlon returned. Marlon solemnly handed the vase to Amelia, saying, โMr. Kingsley, I bought this from an antique dealer named Carlo Baker. He has some other good pieces from Pinecrest. If youโre interested, you can check with him.โ
โThank you,โ Landon said, exchanging a look with Amelia. He thought, โPinecrestโฆ Isnโt that where Debra lived? How many antiques did she have? Had Walter sold them all to Carlo?โ
