Things weren't going according to Brittany's plan. Alexander quickly finished his breakfast—a much faster pace than Brittany anticipated. The pair sat opposite each other, chatting as they ate. He had only a sandwich and a cup of coffee before returning to his desk and turning on his computer.

Immediately after breakfast, Alexander fixed his gaze on the monitor. After a few bites of her own bland, neglected breakfast, Brittany could no longer sit still. She put down her food and approached him. "Alex, can't you see I'm here?"

Alexander glanced up, then returned to his screen. "What is it?"

"Do you hate me?" Brittany asked, pouting.

"No."

"Then why are you ignoring me?"

"I'm working."

"You're lying! You just don't want to talk to me. Are you so busy you don't even have time to eat breakfast with me?" Enraged, Brittany grabbed his monitor and turned it around.

This made Alexander frown and look up. "Stop messing around." He then held up the last bite of his sandwich, shoved it in his mouth, and said, "There, done with breakfast. You should head home now. Let me call Edward to send you back."

He reached for his phone. Brittany lunged forward and grabbed his hand. "I don't want that! Don't get Edward involved! He's not related to me!"

She pouted, then looked him in the eyes. "I want you to send me back." She thought, 'Since he's so busy, he won't have time, and I can stay.'

Unexpectedly, after a moment's thought, Alexander nodded. "Okay. I'll send you back."

This caught Brittany off guard. "Do you want me to leave that badly?" Her composure shattered. She'd rushed to the airport, woken early to buy him breakfast—why was he still so cold?

Although Alexander had never been harsh, his polite distance was unsettling.

"Brittany, I have a lot to do. You have things to do too. You're an adult, not a child. Stop acting like one and throwing tantrums," Alexander said, his tone like that of an older brother.

"You're right. I'm not a child, so don't talk to me like one! I have a brother, I don't need another. You dislike me, don't you? Fine, I'll leave! Don't regret this!" Brittany stormed off.

Alexander watched her go, without chasing after her. Sighing, he called someone.

After a long ring, a sleepy voice answered. "Dude, do you know what time it is? You're disturbing my sleep!"

Alexander scoffed. "The time? My sister sent me breakfast and followed me to the office."

"What? She's fast! Haha! Enjoy it!" The person yawned, about to hang up.

"She left," Alexander said after a pause. "She was upset, and she doesn't have her car."

Brandon's sleepiness vanished. "She sent breakfast? She didn't drive? Where's her car? And what do you mean 'upset'? You didn't go after her?"
