Chapter 739
Lily was about to reach home when her husband called. "Are you on your way home?"
"I'm almost there," Lily replied. "Five more minutes."
"Wait for me at the door, but don't come in," Alexander said. "I'll be right out."
Lily was stunned. "You're going out?" she asked.
"Um."
"Is something wrong?"
"I'll tell you later."
After a moment's thought, Lily nodded. "Okay, I'll be there soon."
Soon, Lily drove into the neighborhood. As she arrived at the villa's gate, she saw Alexander walking out. He was dressed casually, so it didn't seem like a momentous occasion. Still, he didn't mention where he was going.
Alexander opened the driver's-side door, which confused Lily.
"I'll drive. You've been busy all day. Take a rest."
"Oh?" Lily replied, unbuckling her seatbelt and moving to the passenger seat. "Why didn't you tell Edward to drive?"
"It's just the two of us, and I don't want him tagging along." Alexander smiled, started the car, and checked that Lily's seatbelt was fastened. "Let's go!"
He looked mysterious and said nothing more. Lily had no idea where he was taking her.
"It's so late. Where are we going? Have you eaten yet? Lisa and I just had dinner." She preempted his possible suggestion of going out to eat.
After a while, she continued, "If you want to eat, I can accompany you. We could get some dessert."
"You want dessert?" Alexander asked casually.
"Sure, that works."
"How about Sapphine's Treasure Hut?"
"All right."
Alexander drove directly to the dessert shop. Fortunately, there weren't many people. He went in, bought two desserts, and some snacks, then returned to the car. He handed them to Lily. "Wait. Let's eat these later."
Lily was puzzled. It didn't seem like they were going to eat.
Lily couldn't help asking again, "Where are we going?"
"You'll find out later."
Alexander smiled and concentrated on driving. It wasn't long before he stopped in front of a garden.
The garden looked plain and simple, so Lily eyed her husband suspiciously. She saw him take his car keys and walk to open the gate.
Curiosity piqued, Lily followed him, only to find something special inside. The garden contained many flowers and plants, though they weren't fully grown. It wasn't the right season, yet they thrived, a pleasing sight.
Inside, Lily saw two large laboratories, fully equipped with professional experimental apparatusโsimilar in quality to those used at the company. Everything looked new, as if recently completed.
