Chapter 124: I Want to Know Who He Is
Abigail couldn't be happier. She picked up a garlic shoot, peeling it slowly, her speech slowing as well. "Alright. You can focus on your work. I'll go home and visit Grandpa and Grandma for you."
Sean frowned, looking displeased. "Why do you sound like you don't care if we have a fallout?"
She feigned innocence. "Really? Wasn't I just trying to cover for both of us?"
He fell silent, his face cold.
When they began cooking, Analise complimented Sean's fish-cooking skills and asked him to help prepare a dish. She also brought Abigail into the kitchen to assist. Abigail peeled garlic, crouched by the trash can. The two worked as if they were strangers.
Analise and Julie, who had been eavesdropping at the door, hadn't heard any conversation from the kitchen. They exchanged a glance and slowly sat down on the couch. "They've surely been apart too long. That's why they're arguing," Julie whispered.
Analise, however, had other thoughts. "It's probably because of the child that they're facing criticism," she mused, sighing softly. "If they had a child, they might not be arguing like this. This can't go on; do you have any suggestions?"
Julie smiled awkwardly. "Young people nowadays are reluctant to have children, and it's inappropriate for us to push them. Pressuring them might backfire."
Regarding family matters, Luna had advised against interference.
After dinner, Abigail and Sean served Analise, but they didn't interact. Finally, Analise couldn't sit still any longer. "Have you two argued? Sean, did Abigail do something wrong? If she did, I'll talk to her."
He put down his fork and knife, adopting a gentle expression. "We didn't argue. I'm just tired from the business trip, so I don't feel like talking much."
Analise looked at Abigail, who quickly offered her a piece of bean curd with a warm smile. "Where did you get that idea? I even suggested he stay tonight," she said, looking at Sean playfully. "Right?"
Analise remained unconvinced. "Why weren't you two talking, then?"
Abigail explained, "I have something to attend to tonight, and I may have neglected him a bit, which is probably why he's upset. After I finish my business, I'll talk to him, okay?"
Sean thought she was shifting blame, but his face remained calm as he replied, "I'm not angry. I'll wait for you to come back."
His calm response puzzled Abigail. Is he planning to settle the score later?
She and Luna had left without finalizing the program's follow-up. If Joan's debut didn't go smoothly, Sean would undoubtedly reprimand them.
After dinner, Abigail washed dishes with Analise, discreetly bidding Julie farewell before leaving. She was surprised to find Anthony and his car at her building's entrance. As she stepped out of the elevator, he was leaning against his car.
"How did you find me?"
"I just asked around on Facebook," Anthony said, straightening. He wore a brick-red suit and bright blue tie, a somewhat flamboyant look.
"You could've just told me the address," she said, approaching him.
He smiled, raising an eyebrow. "It's a senior's duty to pick up a junior. Come on. Get in. Director Lewis is waiting for us."
She had studied design and met him during a college competition; he'd been mentoring her since. After she started the studio with Luna under the pseudonym Alana, he recognized her design style immediately. They'd maintained private contact since. He was talented but had returned home to inherit his family's business after graduation.
Sean returned to Abigail's room. Suppressing his anger, he took out his phone to contact Cameron about investigating Abigail's work partner when Kevin sent him a picture.
He opened it. His eyes narrowed slightly. Zooming in, he saw the admiration in Anthony's eyes as he looked at Abigail, who smiled confidently while interacting with Lewis.
Kevin then sent a link to an Instagram post. The post was about L.Moon Studio collaborating with Lewis on a new drama, garnering significant attention. Both Lewis's and L.Moon Studio's Instagram posts had tens of thousands of comments. What caught Sean's attention was Star Media mentioning L.Moon Studio in a separate post and specifically tagging Alana's Instagram account.
He then messaged Cameron on Instagram, sending the photo. "Find out who this man is besides Director Lewis. I want to know his whereabouts immediately."
