Chapter 130: See You Around

Sean looked at Cornelie and said gently, "Grandma, don't you care about me anymore?"

At his words, she immediately took his hand and looked at him with affection. "I watched you grow up. How could I not care? I only wanted her to have a child. Isn't it for your good? Now that I'm still here, I can help you care for the child. When my health fails, who will raise the child?"

"Can we slow down on the child matter?" He looked at her with a somewhat indifferent expression.

Abigail glanced at him, puzzled by his reluctance to have children. However, she didn't dwell on it; even if he wanted a child now, it was none of her business.

"It's been three years. Isn't that slow enough?" Cornelie glared at him.

"In any case, she can't have a child alone, so your pressure won't work." He finally addressed the issue directly.

She realized her grandson didn't want a child with Abigail. Observing Abigail, she concluded the young woman wasn't favored by him and that he'd never married her out of love.

"Let's have a heart-to-heart talk. You're always busy and rarely come home. I don't get to talk to you," she said gently, her eyes full of affection.

The conversation having reached this point, Abigail wisely turned and left. Before Sean could speak, the door closed behind her.

In the bright hospital corridor, she found Kevin and Joan—one sitting, the other leaning against the wall. Joan was full of questions, but Kevin remained silent, even when pressed. Seeing Abigail, Joan looked at her curiously, wondering about Kevin's mention of family matters.

Abigail stood by the wall, arms crossed, lips pressed together, pondering Cornelie's secret conversation with Sean. She had a vague idea of its subject.

"Abigail, what's your relationship with Sean?" Joan suddenly asked.

"Have you apologized to L. Moon and Alana?" Abigail countered with an unrelated question.

"Before that, shouldn't L. Moon pay the breach of contract fee to Mr. Stewart and Scan?" Joan retorted confidently, as if she were an investor in the project.

Abigail sneered but didn't reply.

"What's your relationship with Sean?" Joan persisted. She had her suspicions but wanted confirmation.

Abigail coldly retorted, "Who are you to me? Why should I tell you?"

Joan smiled ambiguously. "I already know, even if you don't tell me."

Abigail frowned.

Seeing their argument conclude, Kevin interjected, "Miss Palmer, how about I take you to dinner? You haven't eaten yet, have you?"

"I'm a model. I can't eat dinner." Joan didn't want to leave. Sean was still in the ward.

Abigail sat down, checking documents on her phone. Silence returned to the corridor.

In the ward, Cornelie held Sean's hand and whispered, "I know you're not happy with this marriage. I thought having a child would repay the Quinns, but now it feels like we're repaying them."

"The child has nothing to do with her," he reiterated.

"Answer me. How do you feel about Joan?" She ignored his words.

He frowned. "Don't get any funny ideas, Grandma. Things with Joan are complicated, and I can't tell you everything." (The repeated sentence was removed.)

Joan was about to enter the entertainment industry; revealing too much would hurt her chances. He would fulfill her wishes and protect her secrets.

"Why can't you tell me? Your vague kindness will make her fall for you." Cornelie had spoken to Joan earlier and knew of her interest in him.

"She understands. I don't need to say more," he replied. "You haven't eaten. Let me order some takeout."

She reluctantly nodded. "I'm staying tonight, but I'll leave early tomorrow. Your grandpa favors Abigail too much."

"Why can't you do the same?" he asked instinctively.

Cornelie bristled. "Why should I? She's not family."

"I don't like how you put it," he said, unhappy.

Annoyed, she released his hand. "If she has a child, I'll favor her. It's been three years, and so much money has been spent, but where's the child?"

The conversation returned to this topic, giving Sean a headache. "Let me order you some food," he said, taking out his phone to contact Cameron. He looked at her more gently. "Let's wait for the food. I'll leave after you eat, okay?"

He received a message: "Something came up. See you around."
