Chapter 145: Sean Takes Matters Into His Own Hands

Less than two hours later, Sean confronted Laura directly. It was revealed that Laura had assaulted her assistant with her high heels and slapped a low-level extra on set. Videos and social media posts from the extra corroborated these claims.

Abigail saw Sean's Instagram post lambasting Laura and immediately called him. His tone was upbeat.

"How's it going?" he asked.

Abigail's voice was tinged with concern. "Why did you post that on Instagram? People might think you're taking sides."

Sean retorted icily, "What's wrong with helping you? Laura bullies you because she has powerful backers and a legion of mindless fans."

"But this could hurt you," Abigail said firmly.

Sean sneered. "Is Anthony helping you any better?"

"He didn't intend to help me that way, and regardless of your involvement, I would have handled this myself," Abigail replied calmly.

"Is your solution to leave the production?" Sean asked.

"Yes," Abigail answered coldly. "My job's almost done. With L.Moon Studio's capabilities, the audience will see the truth once the show airs."

"Do you think I'm overstepping?" Sean countered.

"No," Abigail replied immediately. She felt that, as an outsider to the industry, he didn't need to get publicly involved.

Sean's voice softened. "Abigail, I just want you to accept my help."

Abigail's heart raced. "Thank you," she whispered, surprised by his directness.

Sean sounded satisfied. "Alright, then. Focus on your work. As long as you want to stay, no one can make you leave."

"Okay," she replied softly.

After hanging up, Abigail frowned and considered the situation. She then opened Instagram. Sean's post defending her was already trending. She saw the headline—"Laura, apologize to Abigail!"—but didn't click.

Scrolling through the comments, she saw:

"Laura, the pure and innocent flower. It seems Dumplings are biased. Every time something happens, it's the poor, innocent Laura who's bullied. I never expected such ruthlessness! That's why her assistant left, right?"

Another comment, at the top because Sean had replied to it, read: "Abigail has connections. She fabricated evidence."

Sean's reply tagged RoundDumpling: "I've saved your comment. You're spreading rumors, so get ready for a court summons." Below were many applause emojis.

Other comments included: "Laura's evil Dumplings, don't delete this! Let your idol sue Sean!" and "Sean is so bold! I wish I had a cousin like him!"

Instagram was chaotic.

After reading, Abigail went to the door, where Lewis stood looking apologetic.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

Lewis mumbled, "This morning, I accused you without asking for your side, and I'm sorry. I didn't expect those malicious rumors."

Abigail's gaze was cool. "Is this how you always treat crew members?"

Lewis hesitated.

Abigail continued evenly, "I'm an outsider, so I might not understand industry norms. But unjustly accusing crew members without investigating is unsettling."

"You're right. I should have asked. Tempers flare on set…" Lewis explained.

Abigail interjected calmly, "This is your industry's practice. Leads hold high positions, and you agree with them. You didn't even ask why Laura was upset with me."

"I had Laura apologize to you," Lewis said awkwardly.

Abigail noted that those with higher status often felt superior, overlooking hardworking crew members.

"I don't need her apology. I just want to know if she truly disliked L.Moon's designs. One word is all I ask," Abigail said, locking eyes with Lewis.

Lewis said, "She's a rising starlet; she's conscious of her appearance. As for our show…"

Abigail stated calmly, "Our show is fine. She wants a glamorous historical drama but whether she meets that challenge is her problem." She designed haute couture for international stars; Laura had no right to criticize her designs.
