I Want a Divorce

Listen to this chapter:

Not wanting to mention last night, Abigail interrupted. "This has nothing to do with you."

Sean, who hadn't yet spoken, was already angered by her words. His face instantly turned cold as he retorted, "Then who does? Kevin?"

She was shocked. What does this have to do with Kevin?

Seeing her silence, he continued sarcastically, "Abigail, I never pictured you like this. You say you want a divorce while seducing me, yet you're eagerly pursuing Kevin. Why didn't I know you were so manipulative before?"

A puzzled expression crossed her face as she asked, "Who's seducing you? And who's pursuing Kevin?"

He scoffed. "Who was begging me to go faster last night?"

Feeling suffocated, she stared at him in disbelief. "Why don't you ask your grandmother what she did last night? I swear that pudding was spiked!"

With eyes filled with ridicule, Sean retorted, "So what? Did you learn all those tricks you tried the past three years from Grandma?"

Abigail felt a surge of rage, rising from her feet to her head. Despite her thick clothing, she felt exposed and vulnerable before him. She couldn't describe the feeling; it was like having her pride stripped away and relentlessly trampled.

For the past three years, she hadn't merely pleased him for a child. She liked him and was willing to do anything to make him happy. She hadn't expected him to use that against her. It felt like she was just a toy to him.

Her voice trembled slightly. "Sean, if you're free now, let's get our divorce finalized. I don't want anything from you."

Truly, she wanted nothing to do with him.

Sean's eyes darkened. "Such a hurry? Let me tell you, the Stewarts would never accept someone like you into their family."

Three generations of Stewarts were involved in politics, and Kevin was their sole heir. His wife needed a comparable background or someone who could benefit them.

Sean didn't intend to belittle her, but he knew her life wouldn't be easy married to Kevin.

Abigail snapped out of her daze. Realizing what he meant, anger trembled through her as she shoved him away. A wave of resentment washed over her, bringing tears to her eyes.

How dare he assume I would seduce his best friend before our divorce? And he even reminded me the Stewarts wouldn't accept a divorced woman? He clearly looks down on me and hopes I fail.

With a cold expression, she gritted her teeth. "Thank you for your consideration, but even if I wanted to be Kevin's mistress, it's none of your business!"

If she weren't recovering from a fever and feeling lethargic, she would have kicked him. She couldn't believe she'd been so blind to fall for him. He cheated on her and had the audacity to blame her.

His black eyes turned cold, concealing his emotions. He stared at Abigail briefly before saying, "You don't know what's good for you." How can you even consider becoming Kevin's mistress? That's degrading!

At that moment, his assistant, Cameron Hopkins, approached the car. "Mr. Graham, Mr. Cromwell was in an accident. The client couldn't find him and went to the company to make a scene."

Sean's eyebrows furrowed. He threw his belongings to the ground before getting into the car. The loud slam of the door revealed his anger.

Chapter 19: You Can't Marry Him

Abigail stood there for a few minutes before picking up her belongings and getting into a taxi.

Half an hour later, she returned to the studio with packages of various sizes. After going to the second floor, she tossed the packages aside. They fell, scattering their contents—a pile of supplements.

They were the same childbirth supplements Lina had sent before.

Initially, Abigail wanted to throw them away. How could she provide Lina with a grandchild if her grandson refused one? After considering, she saw it as a kindness gesture given her impending divorce. Moreover, gifts from a wealthy family like the Grahams would take a lifetime to repay.

She set the supplements aside, intending to return them later. As her assistant handed her another package, her hand stopped. That doesn't look like a supplement.

Frowning, Abigail opened the wrapping to reveal an emerald jewelry set. It was the set she'd admired and photographed last month, sending the picture to Sean to start a conversation, perhaps hoping for a compliment. She hadn't expected him to buy it for her.

Though he only visited once a month during those three years, he'd never come empty-handed. He mostly gifted her jewelry, so much that she had a dedicated room for it. Sometimes, she'd wander through the room at night, imagining him beside her.

In the past, she'd believed this was Sean's way of showing affection. Or maybe he thought she was materialistic and could be easily fooled with jewelry. Now, his efforts seemed cheap.

Remembering Sean's words, Abigail subdued her emotions and returned the necklace to its box.

"Abigail! Abigail!" Before she could pack everything, she heard Luna's angry voice outside her design room. She quickly opened the door, fearing Luna would break it down. "Why are you so rough? Do I have to replace this door with a gold one?"

She opened the door wider for Luna. "I told you to stay in the hospital, but you wouldn't listen!" Luna raised her hand as if to hit Abigail, then hesitated. Her eyes fell on the gift boxes. "What the heck? Is Old Mrs. Graham still trying to get you pregnant?"

Abigail sniffled, still suffering from a cold. "I'm used to it."

"I don't think that's true. If she genuinely cares, she wouldn't only give you childbirth gifts. I think you're too kind and unaware that someone is trying to manipulate you with guilt," Luna said frankly.

Abigail smiled. "I owe them."

I've removed the asterisks and replaced them with more appropriate phrasing where possible. Some instances were left as is, as the intended meaning may be dependent on the larger context of the novel. The use of asterisks is generally not appropriate for professional editing. I've also corrected grammatical errors, improved sentence structure, and standardized punctuation for better flow and clarity.
