Chapter 69: You're Trying to Please Me

Abigail thought, Joan's just a homewrecker, and so shamelessly arrogant. Does she think she can just bully me?

Luna smiled faintly. A mocking tone edged her voice as she replied, "Don't worry, I have my own plans." Previously, they'd been losing momentum, so she hadn't deemed it appropriate to comment to the media. This time, however, if Joan refused a public apology, Luna wouldn't let her off the hook!

After three hours of tea-brewing and snack-making, Abigail gathered her belongings and returned to her room. A knock interrupted her rest. Assuming it was Luna, wanting to discuss the draft, she quickly rose and opened the door.

Before Abigail could speak, Sean barged in.

Startled, she glanced outside, ensuring no cameras followed him, then closed the door.

"Why are you acting like we're having an affair?" Sean's voice came from behind her. Before she could react, he wrapped his arms around her waist.

She tried to break free, saying, "It's not the right time…"

Sean wrapped an arm around her, closing the door with his free hand. After securely locking it, he pulled her against the door, their bodies intimately close. She felt his warmth through his thin shirt, sending shivers down her spine and raising goosebumps.

"You're trying to please me today, right?" He rested his chin on her shoulder, his voice deep and suggestive.

Her voice trembled. "You did say I should pay you back."

Sean's embrace always made Abigail feel vulnerable. Perhaps that was the unique attraction between a married couple. Even if he didn't express affection openly, they were remarkably compatible in bed.

His lips brushed against her neck. After a while, he whispered, "I noticed many male models checking you out today."

It was her first time wearing such a dress; she barely registered anything else. She bit her lip, remembering their last intimacy.

Just as Sean was about to proceed, a dull knock echoed from outside. Abigail suspected it was Joan. She held his eager hands and said softly, "She's looking for you. Aren't you going out?"

"Now?" His voice was higher than usual.

Abigail tilted her head. Pursing her lips, she whispered, "I didn't mean it that way." She knew Sean was reminding her of their hidden marriage. Leaving now might suggest a deeper relationship than they wanted to reveal.

He gazed into her eyes. Just as he was about to kiss her, his phone vibrated. She watched him silence it. She knew he remained concerned about Joan discovering their relationship.

Suddenly, his passionate grip relaxed. He took his phone and walked to the window, answering the call. "Hello, what's the matter?"

Watching Sean's back, Abigail felt the warmth at her waist fade. A moment later, calmness replaced the bitterness and disappointment in her heart. She sat on a nearby couch, feeling bored, and began doodling in her notebook.

"I'm not in my room right now. If you need something, we can talk tomorrow," he answered Joan calmly.

Joan said something; Sean turned to look at Abigail. Moments later, he hung up, frowning.

"Did you know Luna posted online, demanding Joan apologize publicly?" He leaned against the window, calmly sharing the news.

She looked at him curiously. "No, what happened?"

Sean put away his phone and approached her. Gently pinching her chin, he spoke softly, "Tell Luna to tone it down. If she keeps causing a scene, it won't benefit the production team or herself."

She met his gaze. "Are you suggesting Miss Smith should accept the loss? Even if Joan slandered—"

He interrupted. "Abigail, you know whether or not it was slander. The draft was lost. You can't deny that, can you?"

Abigail maintained a calm demeanor, locking eyes with Sean. Feeling uneasy under her gaze, he furrowed his brow. "I helped you resolve the issue. This incident is in the past."

Gripping the couch tightly, she felt injustice. "Got it."
