Chapter 119: Spoil Him

Maggie leaped from the couch, exclaiming, "What?"

"Okay, sir," Sofia replied, her smile widening.

Maggie turned to Nathael, asking, "Mr. Harris, the billโ€ฆ"

"Of course, you're paying," Nathael said slowly, replacing the watch he'd removed earlier. His movements were graceful and attractive.

Maggie laughed exasperatedly. "Why? I only dirtied one of your suits."

Nathael smiled, looking directly at Maggie. "You said they all looked good on me."

"But I didn't say I'd buy them all, did I?" Maggie panicked, glancing at Sofia, who was busily processing the order. Nathael leaned in, whispering, "If you weren't planning on buying them all, why did you ask me to try them all on?"

His charming eyes, with their slightly upturned corners, held a playful roguishness, a departure from his usual profound and stern demeanor. He'd shed some of his fierceness, revealing an innate mischief. Maggie was speechless.

"You said they looked good on me, and you wanted me to try them, so why shouldn't you buy them all if you want me to continue trying?" he reasoned.

That's right! Why should he keep trying if he wasn't going to buy them?

Her brain whirred. She realized Nathael had been playing her all along!

Urghhh!

No wonder he'd patiently humored her with each suit. Moments before, she'd felt triumphant, but now she felt like crying. "Sir, the total is $458,794," Sofia announced, approaching Nathael with the bill.

Nathael gestured for Maggie to take it.

Maggie stared at the long list of designer brands, feeling breathless and faint.

Immediately, Nathael casually asked Sofia, "Have you packed the shoes and bags?"

Startled, Sofia quickly replied, "I'll pack them and prepare the bill immediately."

Maggie glared resentfully at the eight pairs of men's leather shoes. She glared fiercely at Nathael, lashing out, "Nathael, what are you? A centipede? Why would a man buy so many shoes?" Nathael grinned, his eyes cold. "To annoy you!"

Maggie almost choked on her frustration. Seriously?

She was livid. The earlier joy had vanished, replaced by a desire to cry. She never imagined the dignified Mr. Harris would scheme against her like this. Wasn't he shameless? She'd dirtied one suit, and now he wanted her to pay for ten or twenty.

Minutes later, Sofia returned with the bill, handing it directly to Maggie.

Maggie forced a smile. She was furious, yet maintained her composure. Trying to cry, but unable to due to her overwhelming urge to scratch his face, she said, "Nathael, I don't have the money."

Her eyes were downcast, conveying desolation and helplessness. She ignored Sofia, who waited patiently. As long as she had thick skin, everything would be fine, right? She doubted someone of Nathael's stature wouldn't feel embarrassed.

Nathael chuckled, a devilish glint in his eyes. Leaning close, he whispered, "Don't worry, I'll have Alex buy some women's clothing, and you can try them on for me."

Maggie's mind blanked. Try them on? As long as she didn't have to pay, she could try on a hundred outfits. But why buy them just to try them on?

"Why are you buying women's clothing?" she blurted, meeting his dark, unfathomable eyes. His pupils were jet black, conveying dark desires and aggression.

Chapter 119: Spoil Him (Continued)

Nathael watched her with a half-smile, saying nothing yet conveying everything. Maggie understood. Her cheeks flushedโ€”from shyness or anger, she wasn't sure.

"Nathael, you're inhuman!" she cried, her voice trembling.

Nathael raised an eyebrow, smirking coldly as he tossed the letter she'd written him on the plane into her lap. The words "Nathael's a pig" stared back at her.

Maggie wanted to die. Self-inflicted misery! She'd called him a pig, and now he was acting inhuman. How could she not know he'd take it literally?

"Please be human," she pleaded, forcing a grimace of a smile.

Nathael waited for her to continue.

"Don't give up on yourself," she said earnestly, truly regretting her words.

Gosh! Nathael is such a jerk! I'm going to lose it! My money! My money!

Maggie was genuinely poor, despite inheriting from Ronald and undertaking personal projects. She'd reinvested most of her inheritance. She owned two companies, and a few others were under Leo and Mia's names, but she was broke.

"You are still young. You need to reform. You can't keep living like a scoundrel," she said brokenly as she paid.

The transaction alert buzzed. She'd had $750,000 in savings, recently depleted. After this, only $67,000 remained. She wanted to cry.

"Sir, your girlfriend is so nice to you," Sofia remarked genuinely. While many women spoiled their boyfriends, this couple's matching looks and mutual admiration were enviable. The way Maggie attentively appreciated Nathael while he tried on clothes was extraordinary.

Maggie suppressed her pain, maintaining a calm facade. "There's no way around it; he's always causing trouble with me," she said lightly. Sighing, she added to Sofia, "Of all my boyfriends, he has the worst temper, but what can I do? I love him; surely I have to spoil him."

Sofia was stunned. She'd thought Maggie's lack of money was playful banter. She glanced at Nathael. A kept man? Unlikely. Appearances could be deceiving. But Maggie had a pointโ€”if he were ordinary, how could he warrant such extravagance?
