Chapter 66: You Really Want to Pick a Fight, Huh?
Nathael chuckled, gently pinched her chin, and passionately kissed her lips.
"You really want to pick a fight, huh?"
Maggie was taken aback. Before she could swallow the egg in her mouth, he’d taken half of it. Her cheeks flushed red.
"Hey!"
Maggie never anticipated such a bold move. She felt like she was melting; her hand trembled, and she felt weak.
Nathael had no intention of letting her escape. He took her plate, placed it on the table, lifted her, pushed her against the table, and kissed her deeply. Maggie’s breath quickened. She instinctively tried to pull back, but Nathael drew closer, leaving her no escape.
Perhaps sensing her tension, Nathael softened his approach, causing Maggie to relax compared to her earlier stiffness in the car. As she gazed at his handsome face inches from hers, her eyes involuntarily shut, and she reciprocated.
A moment later, Maggie’s phone rang, shattering the silence.
Maggie slowly opened her dazed eyes, feeling wobbly. Only then did Nathael regain his composure. He reluctantly kissed her neck and huskily murmured, "Tastes good."
Maggie’s eyelashes fluttered. Her eyes were hazy, her lips tingling and numb. Blushing, she pushed him away, hastily jumped off the table, straightened her disheveled clothes, and walked to the living room, casually answering the phone. "Hello."
Her voice was hoarse.
"Maggie, how did your conversation with Leo go? When are you coming back? Do you need me to pick you up?"
The call was from Olivia, but Joseph was speaking. Glancing at the wall clock, Maggie saw it was ten o'clock. It was late. Given Sierra’s fiasco, the Camerons were likely restless and awaiting updates, hence the urgency.
"No need. I'll be back soon," Maggie firmly declined, ending the call before Joseph could respond.
The kiss had left a hint of crimson on his usually pale lips, adding to his allure.
"You're leaving?" Nathael's gaze locked onto hers; his voice was deep.
"Yes." Maggie forced herself to look away, feeling as if she were engaged in a forbidden affair—like a scoundrel fleeing the scene.
Shaking her head, she pushed away those unsettling thoughts. This was Nathael, the man who had spanked her earlier! Besides, he’d stolen her poached egg. With that realization, any lingering reluctance vanished, and she headed to the bedroom to change.
Upon her return, Nathael had tidied up. He wore a more casual look—no tie, shirt collar undone—exuding a primal aura compared to his usual cool demeanor.
"I'll drive you," Nathael stated quietly. He acted as if the earlier passion had never happened.
Maggie accepted without protest, but as she settled into the car and observed the familiar surroundings, the dull ache from the earlier spanking resurfaced. She instantly regretted agreeing to his offer.
Thirty minutes later, the car pulled up in front of the Camerons' residence. Maggie remained silent. She was about to exit when Nathael pulled her back. He gazed at her with dark eyes and remarked, "Ms. Adam, if you find me attractive, just say so. Why go through the trouble of seeking replacements?" Realizing he was referring to her attempt to find an escort who looked like him at Crimson Grove, Maggie blushed. "Nathael, have some decency!"
She stepped out of the car and walked away urgently.
Nathael pursed his lips, relaxing only after she’d vanished. In a deep voice, he inquired, "How did the investigation into the Camerons go?"
Alex responded, "I did a thorough investigation. I found that the Camerons aren't treating Ms. Adam as we thought. Instead… they seem to be putting on a show and using her."
Nathael furrowed his brow, lost in thought. "Continue the investigation," he instructed.
Upon arriving at the Camerons' residence, Maggie found Joseph waiting on the ground floor. In the dim light, he stood by the window. Spotting Maggie, he swiftly moved to block her path. "Who was the man who brought you back just now?" he demanded.
Chapter 66: You Really Want to Pick a Fight, Huh?
Maggie chuckled coldly. "That's none of your business."
Joseph was taken aback. "Maggie!"
"Mr. Cameron, I don't wish to repeat myself. We are no longer involved, and my affairs are none of your concern," Maggie stated, attempting to leave.
Frustrated, Joseph grabbed her arm, pulling her back. As he drew closer, he noticed her faintly swollen lips and the red mark on her neck. His eyes narrowed, anger flickering within.
"Who did you meet tonight? Who brought you back? Did you sleep with someone?" Joseph's voice was heavy with frustration.
Annoyed and unable to break free, Maggie responded calmly, "Joseph, what are you doing? Act like a man and stop harassing me."
Joseph laughed bitterly. "Maggie, get off your high horse! You wouldn't let me touch you when we were together, and now you're sleeping around!"
Unfazed, Maggie laughed boldly. "Thanks to you, I'm fine with this. And, Joseph, do you know what this is? It's a case of sour grapes!"
Before Joseph could reply, their argument attracted Ronald and Olivia.
"Is Maggie back? What's going on? Let's talk inside."
They witnessed the conflict and the kiss mark on Maggie's neck. Coincidentally, aside from Joseph, the other Camerons avoided the topic.
In the brightly lit living room, Master and Madam Cameron waited anxiously. Seeing Maggie, they rose with concern. "How did it go? Did Leo agree?"
After a brief pause, Maggie responded, "He agreed, but he's asking for 1.5 million dollars."
"This is daylight robbery! He's clearly taking advantage of the situation!" Madam Cameron exclaimed coldly.
Maggie paused. "Although he agreed, I don't recommend collaborating with him in the future."
