Chapter 139

Fury surged through the saleswoman's mind as she watched Severin and the others leave the shop.

She soon discovered three Audi A8s had been driven away. More importantly, they were limited-edition models, costing two hundred thousand dollars each.

"Seriously? They can afford those expensive cars?" she gasped.

Megan, driving the lead car, even rolled down her window and made a face at the saleswoman.

"No! No way! Those cars are probably worth almost seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars!" The saleswoman lamented. "I shouldn't have listened to that jerk, Rufus! There goes my commission!" Megan was driving the first car, Felicia the second.

Felicia, driving the luxury car, had forgotten her earlier unhappiness. "Go figure! Severin really does have the money to buy us cars. Remember when he said his budget was a hundred and fifty thousand dollars? Now he's actually bought us these cars!"

Williams wasn't as cheerful. "Megan was the one who suggested he buy this car; she wanted to provoke the saleswoman."

"She suggested it, she didn't force him. He agreed with her idea to provoke the saleswoman, too. Besides, didn't you see the saleswoman's face when we drove past?" Felicia said placatingly.

"It feels so good to be driving a luxury car! I feel amazing! I think I've reached a new level of awesome!" she exclaimed.

Williams, however, felt differently. He smiled wryly. "Severin's a good guy. He was trying to protect us, and he couldn't stand Rufus insulting Diane. But he's crossed Rufus this time. I'm worried about what will happen to him."

"Who cares? He said he can handle it. We don't have to do anything!" Felicia declared. "If he can really handle it, it means he's capable and no ordinary person. Then he's worthy of our daughter. If he can't, it just proves he doesn't deserve to be with Diane. Besides, Diane bore him a daughter; we deserve this car as a gift."

"It's two cars, not one!" Williams corrected.

Judith and Maurice, in the last car, were surprised Severin could afford such expensive vehicles. While it pained them to see him spend so much, they didn't think it right to say anything with Diane in the front passenger seat.

Furthermore, they knew Diane was a wonderful daughter-in-law. When Severin was in jail, she secretly cared for them and helped them. Because of that, they felt deeply indebted to her and her family.

Judith considered this, then asked, "Severin, what if Rufus really comes looking for trouble? Aren't you worried?"
