Chapter 140

They knew Diane was a very good daughter-in-law. While Severin was in jail, she secretly cared for them and helped them. Because of this, they felt they owed Diane and her family a great deal.

Judith pondered, then decided to ask. "Severin, what will we do if Rufus really comes looking for trouble? Aren't you afraid?"

Severin looked indifferent. "Why should I be afraid? Different situations require different actions. Don't worry, Mom, I'm a different person now!"

He thought for a moment. "Mom, Dad, why don't we sell the Chevrolet? I can buy you two a better car!"

"Don't," Maurice replied. "I haven't got my driver's license yet. Besides, we don't need an expensive car. After I get my license, I can drive the Chevrolet. If I accidentally damaged it, I'd feel bad enough as it is."

"Huh? What did you say? The Chevrolet is new, too. What do you mean you wouldn't feel bad if you damaged it? I would!" Judith exclaimed.

Maurice quickly and somewhat embarrassedly explained, "I didn't mean that. I mean I'd feel even worse if it were an expensive car!"

"That's more like it!" Judith said, satisfied.

Severin noticed his mother's gray hair. It had grayed from worrying about him. "Mom, why don't I give you a hair treatment in two days? I'm sure it will turn black again soon!"

"Really? If my hair turns black, I'll look ten years younger!" Judith joked.

"Twenty years younger!" Severin said, smiling.
