Chapter 142
Severin noticed Diane's improved mood and felt a surge of emotion. He thought, "Money is still the best tool in this world. Even though Diane never considered leaving me when I was poor, we would never have been treated equally by her family, let alone blessed by them. Diane would have had a terrible time if we’d continued living that way."
Soon, three cars arrived at the Shanahan estate. Each Shanahan family member resided in a villa within the estate's private compound, formed by purchasing and enclosing several villas. However, these villas paled in comparison to Severin's current residence at Dragon Lake Vista.
"What's going on? Who owns those three cars?"
"I don't know. I've never seen them before. Three identical cars! I bet they cost around a hundred thousand dollars each."
"No! You're wrong. These are top-of-the-line models. Probably closer to two hundred thousand dollars each!"
"Wow! Let's go see who they belong to!"
Some servants and Shanahan family members spotted the cars from afar and followed them. The cars finally stopped at William and his family's residence.
"Seriously? Did I see that right? Megan bought them?"
A young Shanahan woman was stunned to see Megan, Felicia, and William exiting the cars. She felt a pang of resentment. [Remove the promotional sentence about FindNovel.net]
She considered herself one of Brookbourn's most beautiful women. Yet, all the wealthy young men had pursued Diane, not her. Diane had surpassed her in nearly every aspect, constantly overshadowing her. Maryam Shanahan believed that without Diane, she would be the most beautiful woman the wealthy young men admired. While Megan was pretty, Maryam didn't believe she could compete. A few years earlier, Megan had been young and undeveloped; even now, though prettier, Maryam considered herself sexier.
"Wow, am I seeing things? Megan! What's with these cars? They're expensive, aren't they?" Maryam asked incredulously as she approached.
Later, she looked at Severin. "Huh? Who is this guy? I don't think I've ever seen him before."
Diane, standing beside Severin, considered her response. "Diane," she asked, "did this handsome guy buy these cars for you and your family?"
Diane sneered. She'd always disliked Maryam, recalling past encounters during her food delivery days when Maryam had deliberately taunted her.
Diane smiled and replied, "Yes. They're quite expensive—around two hundred thousand dollars each. This one's mine; the others belong to my parents and Megan."
Maryam was shocked by the price but quickly recovered. "Weren't you devoted to your daughter's father? I remember you saying you'd stay with him no matter what. Haha. What a change of heart!"
Diane, uninterested in further interaction, responded coldly, "Jealous? I can't help being attractive. This handsome guy insisted on buying them for me. There's nothing I can do. Let's go, honey. Let's go inside!"
She then deliberately took Severin's hand and called him "honey," pointedly provoking Maryam.
