Chapter 45
After buying clothes for Selene, Severin purchased two outfits each for Judith and Maurice before selecting some clothes for himself.
Diane examined Severin's outfit, analyzing his physique before suggesting, "This looks good. Why don't you try it on?" "Sure!" Severin nodded and immediately went to the fitting room.
Upon his return, Diane was captivated. The saying, "Clothes make the man," was particularly apt. His already considerable handsomeness and height were amplified by the new clothes.
"Do I look good, honey?" Severin asked with a smile.
His question broke Diane from her reverie. She nodded. "You do, actually. You should buy a couple more; you probably don't have many nice clothes at home!" "Okay," Severin replied, smiling. "I'll listen to my wife!"
Diane felt bashful and playfully scolded him. "You say that, but did you listen when I told you not to provoke Edward? He's from a prominent family. He won't let this go easily. Don't be impulsive next time. Just apologize and see if he'll forgive you!"
"Are you serious? Me apologize to him? He hit on my wife and called my daughter a bastard! He's lucky I didn't break his neck!" Severin was displeased, but seeing Diane's unhappiness, he smiled. "Okay, okay, I'll try to be less impulsive and more tolerant. I'll be as forgiving as a priest! Happy now?" [Note: The website plug has been removed.]
Severin's words made Diane laugh, her smile brighter than springtime flowers.
Leaving the mall, Severin sighed, "I spent so much money; only eighty-five thousand dollars left."
"What's wrong? Finally appreciating money? Thought you were rich with a hundred and ninety thousand? Feeling heartbroken now?" Diane teased.
Severin smiled. "Not heartbroken, justemotional. It's my first time spending this much at once!"
The bank card from the eccentric benefactor contained a vast sum. While not quite a nation's treasury, it was close.
"Let's go home. Your parents will love the clothes!" Diane suggested.
Surprisingly, Severin replied, "Now? Let's buy a car first, honey! We don't have one, and this cash is heavy. A car will be much more convenient."
Hearing this, Selene's eyes lit up. "Mom! Dad came back with lots of money! We'll have a good life!"
"A car would be convenient for Selene's kindergarten," Diane agreed. "Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz? Maserati? Ferrari?"
