Chapter 93
Ever since Fabian Winter, the bank director, saw the figure in Severin's bank account, he'd suffered from insomnia. "That amount of money! How could anyone save that much?" he thought.
He longed to cultivate a relationship with the man. Unfortunately, Severin hadn't contacted him after receiving his business card.
While dozing in his office, his phone rang. It was an unknown number. He rejected it, disliking spam calls. Seconds later, the number called again.
Fabian answered. "Hello? Who is this? I'm not interested in loans, renovations, or"
Before he finished, a panicked Severin interrupted. "Mr. Fabian, I need a favor. I'm Severin Feuillet."
"Severin Feuillet? I don't remember that name. Do I know you?" Fabian searched his mental rolodex of the wealthy and powerful. The name wasn't there, and he felt frustrated.
"I'm the one who scared Preston's wife into wetting herself at the bank yesterday morning," Severin said, frowning at Fabian's forgetfulness.
"Oh! It's you!" Fabian was shocked, nearly dropping his trembling phone. He clutched it tightly, swallowing hard.
His tone instantly changed. "Oh, my dearest customer, Mr. Feuillet. How may I assist you? I, Fabian Winter, am at your service!"
"Can you apply for a new bank card for me? I need it now, with three hundred million dollars transferred to it. Add a few thousand more to make it look legitimate." Severin paused. "Can you do this in ten minutes?"
Fabian replied immediately, "Yes, of course. But I need to contact upper management for authorization. I'm only a bank director. You'll need to provide your identification number and the account number of the Violet-Gold Card."
"No problem. I'm counting on you!" Severin was relieved.
"My pleasure. Such prestigious service is my privilege. There's no need for humility," Fabian said, thrilled. He saw this as a crucial step in building a relationship with Severin. Fearing Severin's displeasure, he planned to withdraw the money and deposit it elsewhere; his boss would be furious otherwise.
"Oh, right! Give me the card discreetly. Set the PIN to six zeroes. And don't let my wife see you!"
After hanging up, Severin immediately sent his identification and account information to Fabian. Relieved, he went downstairs nonchalantly.
"What took you so long?" Diane asked faintly.
Severin smiled sheepishly. "I was in the restroom."
"You still dare to go to the bank?" Diane asked.
"Why not? Let's go," Severin said, heading out with Diane.
"Are you two going out?" Judith called from the garden.
Severin replied, "Mom, Dad, we're going out for a bit; we won't be home for lunch."
"Dad! Mom! Where are you going? I want to go too!" Selene ran over.
Severin's heart melted. He picked her up. "Sure, sweetie. How about the amusement park later?"
