Chapter 1050

Mackenzie sneered. "Didn't you just say favoritism is bad? I agree, so let's drop it!"

"Huh? But" Ruby's face paled. Fear of Mackenzie's power silenced her protests. You didn't object to others' job assignments, but suddenly mine is unacceptable? This is blatant bullying! she thought.

Roselynn found the scene amusing and discreetly gave Mackenzie a thumbs-up. Mackenzie is impressive! She has discerning eyes, knowing who's trustworthy.

Meanwhile, Alessandra had taken Emmanuel to a quiet fountain in the hotel.

"Mom, is something wrong? Are you okay?" Emmanuel asked.

Seeing they were alone, Alessandra sighed. "I'm fine, but troubled. Besides Ryder's issues, I'm worried about Roselynn."

Emmanuel reassured her, "Mom, don't worry. Roselynn's dedicated to her career and doesn't need a man. What's to worry about?"

"Oh, you don't understand," Alessandra worried. "She's young now, but what about when she's older? You and Mackenzie will have families, I'll be gone, and she'll be alone."

Parental love is selfless. Alessandra, recently living alone, felt lonely and feared Roselynn would share her fate. Her children's absence was temporary, but Roselynn's unmarried future seemed bleak—no children to care for her in old age. This kept her awake at night.

Emmanuel understood Alessandra's anxiety and patted her back, unsure how to comfort her.

"Manny, you haven't been in Yeringham recently. You don't know what Roselynn's facing. People say she's malicious, and no one will marry her."

Emmanuel finally understood his mother's distress. Though skilled in medicine, he knew the best remedy was solving her problems. Alleviating her worries was his duty.

"Don't worry, Mom. I'll help Roselynn find someone, and I'll help Ryder find a good wife!"

"My biggest concern is Roselynn. She won't listen to me, so I talked to you. As for Ryder, if he wants to marry Ruby, let him."

Emmanuel was even more concerned. Mom seems ready to accept Ryder and Ruby's marriage. Ryder, you messed up! We paved the way, and you couldn't win Tia. So frustrating!

At eight, dinner ended. Emmanuel and Mackenzie drove home, discussing Roselynn. They agreed she and Julian should have another blind date—the last was a failure. Emmanuel would need to persuade Roselynn, and he wondered if Julian would agree.

"We need to talk to Ashton," Mackenzie said. "Lexi and Julian are distant cousins; Ashton's his real sister."

She looked at Emmanuel. He was surprised. "Why are you looking at me like that? Don't tell me you want me to talk to Ashton. We have a feud."

She shook her head. "I used to think that, but in Anchortown, I noticed how she looked at you. Did something happen?"

"Uh" He couldn't confess about Yeternia to his wife.
