Chapter 950

“Haha, you’ve underestimated me, woman!”

Before Magnus could respond, Blake grinned and said, “I can’t ignore your bad temper just because you’re ugly.”

“You bastard!” Avery retorted, unable to contain herself. Despite knowing she couldn’t win, she decided to fight back.

“Miss Avery, please stop!” Magnus quickly interjected. Then, turning to Blake, he said, “Look at yourself before criticizing others. Stop calling people ugly. Don’t you feel embarrassed?”

This struck a chord with Avery, and she stopped.

Blake grinned, unfazed, knowing Magnus’ intentions.

“The person who killed your sister is Emmanuel Lowe. He had his subordinates do it. For your sister’s sake, I didn’t report it to the police, but I informed you so you could retrieve her body. However, Emmanuel is powerful; seeking revenge alone will be difficult!”

Avery immediately reacted, deploying a hidden weapon that swiftly severed Magnus’ gold-framed glasses before embedding itself in the wooden door behind him. Even Blake and Magnus couldn’t clearly see the weapon.

“Not bad, haha! It would be even more impressive if it pierced through Magnus’ head!” Blake applauded.

Magnus merely smiled, calmly picking up his glasses.

“Mr. Magnus, do you still think I can’t help my sister avenge her death?” Avery pointed to a flame-shaped mark on the back of her hand. “And are you truly confident you can lure my enemies here? Are you sure the Heart of the Sun is in this ancient town?”

Magnus confidently replied, “If your enemy doesn’t come, or the Heart of the Sun doesn’t appear, you can take my life!”

“Good! I’ll be waiting!” Avery said arrogantly. “I’ll follow your orders for three days. But if anything goes wrong, I’ll kill you!” She then left.

“Magnus, what gave you the confidence? I’ve looted Alton’s house twice and haven’t found the Heart of the Sun. And how could Emmanuel come to such a remote place?” Blake asked.

“My confidence comes from here,” Magnus said, tapping his head. “I had you loot Alton’s house to alert them. The true owner of the Heart of the Sun will come to investigate.”

“And that old man, nearing the end of his life, will likely pass the treasure to a younger person if he feels threatened. It’s basic human psychology. In military strategy, this is called ‘casting a brick to attract jade’!”

He paused, ensuring Avery was gone, then continued in a low voice, “If Avery kills Emmanuel, it’s great for us; we eliminate a major threat. If she fails, it’s also wonderful, because she’s a member of the Holy Fire organization!”

Blake grasped Magnus’ plan and excitedly patted his shoulder. “You cunning guy! Using someone else to do your dirty work? I don’t understand why the Holy Fire organization hasn’t acted. But if they know Emmanuel killed their people, they’ll definitely retaliate, right? Haha…”

The forceful pat made Magnus flinch, causing him to wonder about the hot tempers of martial arts experts.

The next morning, after dropping Mackenzie off at work, Emmanuel told her, “Mackenzie, I’m going somewhere with Grandpa. Stay in touch!”

“Okay.” Mackenzie nodded, though suspicious. She wondered what Terence planned to do with Emmanuel. Was he secretly giving him something? Other Quillen family members might not suspect this, but Terence even gave his granddaughter to Emmanuel as a wife—what couldn't he give him? Emmanuel, the fool, is really lucky!

Unaware of his wife’s thoughts, Emmanuel drove to the Quillen residence.
