Chapter 82

Grace could see through Cedric’s thoughts. She knew he wouldn’t have acted that way in public unless he was jealous. She continued, “And Valida? Clearly, an instigator as well. You should have a conversation with them.”

Initially, Grace aimed to convince Scarlett to change her perspective. To her, Cedric was insignificant compared to Leroy.

After hearing Grace’s remarks, Scarlett’s expression displayed her complex emotions. Nevertheless, she was determined to give them a fair chance. She took a moment to clarify, defending her stance.

“There must be a misunderstanding. Mrs. Held asked me about it yesterday. She’s likely worried that Leroy still has feelings for me, which led to their argument at the café.”

Grace shut her eyes. She was rendered speechless. She couldn’t understand Scarlett’s obsession. “Regardless, what will you do now that the board has decided? Are you going to protect Cedric from the entire board?”

Grace gazed at her friend and wondered what happened to the smart and rational woman Scarlett used to be.

Scarlett clenched her jaw as she felt Grace’s piercing gaze. “Grace, I need your help just this once. I want to have a good talk with the board. Cedric is innocent.”

Scarlett refused to give up, which Grace had anticipated from the start. From the moment she arrived, Grace had sensed this inevitability. “If you believe that, I won’t argue. Regardless of the board’s decisions, I hope you prioritize the bigger picture.”

Grace then left, and Scarlett quickly contacted Cedric to discover what was happening.

When Grace stepped out of the ward, she spotted Leroy. She glanced down, noticing the food container he was holding. She asked, “Dr. Olson, are you here to deliver food?”

She was surprised and instinctively thought of Scarlett, wondering if he was there to give it to her.

Leroy nodded. “I promised Scarlett that I’d prepare some meals for her.”

Grace was shocked by Leroy’s reply. The situation had completely caught her off guard. She couldn’t understand why he was back with Scarlett after his many attempts to cut ties with her. To make it even more perplexing, Scarlett appeared completely unfazed.

It was as if the world had transformed into something unrecognizable to her. All Grace wanted now was to go home and sleep.

“By the way, did Cedric really become the COO?” Leroy couldn’t believe it.

Grace felt utterly powerless. “Certainly not. Scarlett just wanted to confuse the board. We didn’t expect him to attract so much attention. Now that he’s exposed, Lettie and Lara are looking for a way to talk to the board about it.”

She was transparent about the situation. After all, Leroy was also a victim, and he needed to be fully informed.

Leroy’s expression revealed a flicker of realization. He had correctly deduced the truth. As always, Cedric would never be honest. A faint smile crossed his face. “I’m sure you can handle it well, Ms. Farmer. I’ll leave after delivering the food. See you next time.”

Following that, Leroy approached the front of the ward and knocked on the door.

Meanwhile, Scarlett had just hung up with Cedric. It seemed that his account starkly contrasted with Grace’s. He claimed Leroy provoked him first and even compared her to Yvonne. He was frustrated and argued with him. Scarlett was confused and unsure of whom to believe.

Leroy entered, setting down the nutritional food. “I made chicken soup today. Drink it slowly.”

After that, he prepared to leave.
