Tor was astounded that the Reids genuinely did not view Xenia as part of their family. After she finished speaking, Senta’s sister, Tessa Zuumennan, stepped in. “What does Xenia’s situation have to do with us? Also, it’s not right that your hospital treated people without the family’s consent.” Tessa’s message was clear: they wouldn’t be compelled to pay if they refused to acknowledge Xenia. Her statements shocked the people around them. They stood in disbelief, finding it hard to comprehend. This was the first time they had encountered someone like this. At this point, Tessa grew vehemently excited. “This happened because you didn’t take this seriously. You acted on your own. This is the hospital’s fault!” She shifted all the blame onto the hospital, leaving Zoe nearly falling from disbelief. She found these people truly hateful. Yet, it was too late for her to voice her thoughts. She shook her head. “The patient hasn’t woken up yet. Before she wakes up, we won’t say anything more.” The Reids fell silent, their gazes now fixed on Zoe, a hint of suspicion flickering in their eyes. “How can we be sure that what you said is true? We don’t even know what your true intentions are. Perhaps you’re just looking for a way to squeeze us for money.” Tessa snorted and looked at the nurses surrounding her. “What are you all doing, just standing there? Hurry up and take us to see Xenia.” A heavy silence enveloped the space. The nurses looked at Zoe anxiously. “What should we do? Should we take them there?” Zoe shook her head and sighed. “In this situation, we can only comply with their request, but we must identify their identity first.” Zoe was attentive. If the family didn’t know the patient, they needed to leave immediately. Then, she added, “Oh, and be sure to inform Dr. Olson first. This situation is more complex than it appears.” The nurses promptly nodded in agreement and swiftly followed her instructions. Tessa let out a disdainful snort when she saw this. “What on earth are you up to? Are you planning to alert someone?” Seeing Tessa’s expression, Zoe felt an urge to confront her immediately. However, the situation was different now. The hospital would likely take this matter seriously. Upon hearing the news, Leroy immediately hurried over. When he arrived and spotted the Reids, he asked, “Are you the patient’s family?” The Reids nodded in unison. Tessa said, “Yes, she’s my daughter. We have photographs to prove it.” After she finished speaking, she pulled out a family photo. Leroy fell silent and examined it closely. He inquired, “Your family member has been hurt. Where were you? Weren’t you worried about something bad happening?” However, the Reids showed no shame. Tessa retorted, “What’s the problem? We did nothing wrong. She’s just a woman. It doesn’t matter.” As she concluded her thought, she suddenly regained her composure.
