Timothy looked intimidating and authoritative as he said this, making Elisa admire him even more. Few people could order a national hero around.
Victor was livid. It wasn't enough that this young man was rude and giving orders; he was also expected to hunt down Dustin. Timothy wanted him to arrest Dustin? What a joke! He wanted to live a little longer.
"I apologize, sir," Victor said, his face sour, "but if it's a matter of arresting him, I think you should get someone else."
"How dare you disobey me, Victor Cain? I have the Martial League's Gold Token!" Timothy shouted, incensed at being defied and humiliated.
Victor sighed. "No one in the Martial League would dare disobey such an order. However, I've resigned. I'm just an old man who spends his days at home. Even if I wanted to, I can't do this for the Martial League." Timothy's face darkened.
He'd boasted to Elisa that he could command national heroes with the Gold Token, but he never imagined Victor's defiance.
"Victor, you're an excellent-level national hero of Lovellia, tasked with Martial League missions. You enjoy generous benefits, and therefore must obey orders given with the Gold Token! Disobey, and I'll take everything away!" Timothy delivered his ultimatum.
Victor's eyes narrowed. "Then I'll gladly leave the Martial League and leave everything behind. Mr. Haversham, show these guests out!" he ordered coldly.
"You!" Timothy fumed.
Elisa was completely taken aback. She couldn't believe Victor would leave the Martial League and give up his title so easily. Was it because he didn't want to arrest Dustin? What was so scary about Dustin? Why would a legendary fighter like Victor be afraid of him? Elisa didn't understand.
Timothy was outraged, believing Victor was intentionally defying him. An excellent-level national hero received significant privileges—how could Victor give them up so easily?
"Mr. Cain," Elisa intervened, trying to defuse the situation, "all you need to do is arrest Dustin Fox. Is that so hard?"
Victor scoffed. "Ha! You make it sound so easy! If you think it's so easy, why don't you make this young Bones family member do it?"
Timothy frowned. "I'm the Martial League Overseer. What's the point of this role if I have to personally arrest criminals?"
"Then I suggest you find someone else," Victor grumbled. "However I'm afraid no one in Lannopolis can arrest Dustin."
Elisa was shocked. It was Dustin. Why would Victor fear him? Dustin didn't deserve this.
Timothy's expression was disdainful. "He's just someone the Wyatt family kicked out. So what if he has some Wyatt family guards? I don't believe Lannopolis's Martial League is so useless! Just because you can't help, doesn't mean no one else can. Well, if Lannopolis's Martial League can't manage it, then I'll do it myself! I will drag Dustin back here to face justice and be beheaded!"
Victor merely smiled. "In that case, I wish you both the best of luck," he said indifferently. Internally, he sneered. Did Timothy really think he could drag Dustin to justice and behead him? It wouldn't be possible even if the Bones family patriarch tried, much less Timothy.
