Chapter 58
Was this why Clara had given Dustin VIP diamond tickets? Clara smiled playfully. When Dustin had been kicked out of the family, he had been penniless, unable to bring any of the Wyatt family's valuables with him. Clara was sure he didn't have much money and wanted to humiliate him publicly.
"VIP diamond tickets? That's a higher tier than mine!" Michael looked upset. The other attendees were also disheartened; they were high-society individuals unable to obtain VIP diamond tickets to this event. Who was Dustin, and why did he have better tickets than everyone else?
"If you bid on something at least, that would be such an embarrassment," someone muttered. Everyone watched Dustin's reaction.
Dustin chuckled as Clara looked at him mockingly. "I bid twenty thousand dollars," he said.
Whispers rippled through the crowd. How could someone with such exclusive tickets bid so low?
“Haha, I'll bid ten million dollars!" Michael shouted. "If I had those tickets, I'd never be so shameless as to bid so low. What an embarrassment!" he mocked.
Dustin remained smiling. "Twenty million dollars," he said calmly.
Michael was stunned. He couldn't believe Dustin could outbid him. Clara's smile widened.
"Mr. Fox, you should know how things work here, right? Once you make your bid, you'll have to pay," she said.
"You don't need to worry about that. I can afford it," Dustin replied coldly.
Clara wasn't angry; she didn't believe Dustin could afford it and thought he was merely putting on a show. Once he was ruined, it would be easier to proceed with the next phase of her plan.
"Twenty million dollars, was that right? I'll bid twenty-five million dollars!" Michael yelled. As the son of one of Central Harbor's wealthiest families, he certainly didn't lack money.
"Keep bidding if you have the guts!" he challenged. "Do you think you can beat me when it comes to money?"
