Nina and Jessica rarely met and had no personal relationship. At most, they would see each other at business banquets, nodding and sharing a drink in polite acquaintance.
This time, Nina had come to the company proactively to meet, probably because there was something important.
The Felton family was a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, and their entertainment company was far beyond anything the Hall family could ever match.
So, it was obvious to anyone who should be given the endorsement of the Wilder Jewelry line if both the Hall and Felton families wanted it.
“Ms. Wilder,” Nina said, sitting down and replying to messages without turning around when she heard movement at the door. “A few days ago, I had dinner with Roy and we talked about you. My brother rarely praises anyone, but he spoke of you in glowing terms. Roy even got a little jealous.”
At the mention of Roy, the conversation shifted from business to personal matters.
Jessica glanced at Nina from the side.
It was said they had been neighbors before, and Nina called Roy’s name in a way that sounded less like a sibling and more like… someone she liked.
So, had Nina once liked Roy?
Jessica felt a chill run down her spine, grateful that she had acted quickly; otherwise, Roy might not have even been her… ex-husband.
Jessica turned around and sat down, smiling as she said to Nina, “Is that so? I often hear Roy mention you, too. He said you were quite mischievous as a child and not as pretty as you are now. Look at you–just like the celebrities in your company.”
Nina put down her phone and looked at Jessica.
“We don’t need to exchange compliments. You know why I’m here. I think we’re on the same side.”
“Huh?” Jessica pretended not to understand and waited for Nina to explain herself fully.
Nina didn’t mind and knew Jessica’s character well.
Before coming, her brother had told her many times not to act like a spoiled young lady because Jessica was also the daughter of an affluent family, and if both were headstrong, how would the business work?
Nina assured him that he need not worry; she had controlled the Felton family for so many years, and no branch dared to oppose her.
Her ability was clear, and she would never act rashly.
“Alright, then I’ll be straightforward–we should work together.”
Jessica nodded with satisfaction.
“That’s right, working together is fine, but I have one question.” She leaned forward and looked at Nina. “Do you like Roy?”
Nina was rendered speechless.
Many had said that Jessica didn’t really like her husband at home, and it was rumored they had divorced because Jessica had cheated with her first love, Michael.
Nina had constantly criticized Jessica behind her back for having poor taste in men.
But now it seemed Jessica truly cared about Roy.
Nina nodded generously. “Yes, I like Roy. I liked him a lot when we were young. I thought we would be together, but… after I went abroad to study and came back, he had already become your husband. But don’t worry, I don’t do anything else. Since Roy likes you, I just treat him as an ordinary friend.”
Jessica hadn’t expected Nina to be so open-minded, and she had nothing to hide either.
Since she was Michael’s sister, she naturally knew about the investigation Michael was conducting.
“I’m sorry to speak so plainly, but I believe we will have a pleasant cooperation in the future.” Jessica extended her hand to Nina.
Nina smiled and shook it back.
“I believe so too.”
“There aren’t many women in business, and they are often looked down upon.” Jessica released her hand and leaned back. “Does Michael think that I’m a fool? Does he really think that a little sentiment is enough for me to forget the Hall family’s schemes against the Wilder Group? This time, we’ll let them watch closely how women operate in the business world.”
