For a moment, the entire room went quiet. Even Jaden, who didn’t know much about the situation, sat still. No one had expected Roy to bring such explosive news.
“We’ve already begun the investigation. Because of Megan’s actions, we’ve merged Mandy’s kidnapping case into our task force. Now we need a breakthrough.”
Chris understood what Roy meant. The task force was now filtering through Mandy’s personal connections. Mandy’s parents said their daughter was obedient and sensible, someone who would never make enemies. They had no idea who might have kidnapped her, and they knew nothing about the hard drive the kidnappers mentioned.
“We turned Mandy’s room upside down and still didn’t find the so-called hard drive.”
Right now, the only person who might know the identity of the kidnapper was Megan. The kidnapper and the mastermind were surely the same person.
“Alright, I understand.”
Chris paused for a moment and sent a message, calling Francesca over. Francesca, along with Shannon and the others, was in the next room. Everything now relied on the public relations department–Indya was drinking with a group of colleagues, and the secretary of Mr. Chase from Wind Pharmaceuticals had already joined in. After receiving the message, Francesca immediately came over with Shannon.
“Francesca, tomorrow I want you to come up with an excuse to bring Megan to my office.” Chris paused and, seeing that Francesca understood, added, “Don’t alert too many people.”

“Alright. Thank you.”
Francesca gave a small smile and glanced at Shannon. Seeing that they hadn’t finished talking, she tactfully excused herself.
“Your secretary’s pretty good,” said Roy.
