Chapter 246
Why care about other men? Jessica only wanted the one right in front of her.
And even after so many years apart, Chris hadn’t fallen for anyone else or changed his heart.
That proved all Anthony said was just an excuse—that it was because of work, because Indya neglected him, that someone else took advantage.
There was no such explanation at all. They were just excuses that Anthony used.
In fact, Anthony’s life abroad these past years had been just as interesting.
Indya never actively investigated Anthony – maybe because she didn’t think Anthony was important, or perhaps she feared knowing the truth would hurt her.
But as friends, Jessica and Shannon had long known everything about Anthony.
“Anthony didn’t date that woman for long. That woman depended entirely on him, leaving him no time to breathe. Besides… Anthony was a playboy by nature, but because of how outstanding Indya was, he had liked her for years.”
If it had been an ordinary, mediocre woman, the novelty wouldn’t have lasted more than a month.
“I never showed any of this to Indya. I don’t think it was necessary,” said Jessica, lowering her head as she tidied the items on the table and pushed them toward Chris. “If Indya really wants to see it someday, then I’ll show her. I don’t want her to know all this too early; I hope she can understand on her own.”
To realize the man she liked for so many years was just an ordinary playboy and wasn’t anyone special—Indya herself was worth all the good things, not just a man like Anthony.
There was nothing wrong with valuing work more than love; some people would always put Indya first.
“It’s because of an employer like you that the Wilder Group keeps moving forward. Shannon and Indya have followed you for so many years; they naturally know your temperament.”
Normally, Jessica wasn’t exactly patient and could be blunt in meetings, causing others to not know what to say.
That was just her attitude toward work.
Anyone who worked with her long enough would know she was actually very kind and even a bit reserved.
That night was very sumptuous, and not long after dinner, the two were already in the bedroom.

Being apart for a few days was already hard for them to accept.
Chris couldn’t imagine what kind of endurance he had during the previous five years.
The next morning, the car came downstairs to pick them up.
Chris clearly wasn’t going to work but still got changed and took Jessica downstairs.
Shannon stood by the car and said, “Sir, we will take good care of Ms. Wilder. Don’t worry.”
Seeing Jessica and Chris look at each other lovingly, Shannon sighed. “It’s going to be four days. Is this really necessary?”
“You won’t understand,” Chris shot back.
The luggage was put in the trunk.
Only Shannon and Jessica were in the car.
Indya would drive to meet them and then hand the car over to the driver before getting into Jessica’s car.
Anthony and the others would go straight to Montvue Tower to wait.
“Come back early. I don’t have any surgeries the next couple of days. Call me if anything happens,” said Chris, looking worried at the gloomy weather.
The sky was still overcast, the air humid, and dark clouds blocked all brightness.
It always made Chris uneasy.
“There’s a construction crew watching over Montvue Tower. There won’t be any problems there. Don’t worry. I’ve got to go now. You can head back inside now.”
