Chapter 265
โYour husbandโs probably worried sick,โ Indya said as she took a mint from her pocket and popped it into her mouth, smiling at Jessica. โBefore we left, he didnโt want you to come and kept saying that he was worried. Looks like he was right; weโre really in trouble now.โ
Jessica looked down at the project documents. Even without power, work went on as usual. As long as a little light came in from the outside, she could continue working.
โWorrying wonโt help. No one can get in around here, but we are in a safe place. He should be able to see the news.โ
Indya waved her finger. โYou forgot what your husband does for a living. Iโm worried heโll come with the rescue teams.โ
Jessica paused for a moment, then said calmly, โThatโs his professional duty. Doctors should come out to save people in danger. If he really does, and the Summit Infirmary gets listed, I can still spin it into good publicity for usโa positive story.โ
The car stopped far away because it couldnโt drive any further. Behind Blakeโs car was the rescue teamโs vehicle. He wore a simple raincoat and pushed open the door.
Sam immediately got out and used the walkie-talkie to contact nearby people. The rescue team escorted them, carrying supplies as they moved inward.
A group of Hurricane Media reporters sheltered from the rain under an eave, pointing their cameras at the only passable road. If someone came from that direction, they would rush over to help.
When Blake and his group appeared in the frame, with the rescue team carrying large bags inside, Mandy was momentarily stunned.
A colleague nudged her and pointed at Blake, who wore a raincoat and whose side profile was visible, asking, โAm I seeing things? Is that Blake?โ
โBlake? Which Blake?โ
โThe male lead of Fleeting Glory, the one who won the Best Actor award. Didnโt he just sign with the Wilder Group recently? Could it be him?โ
โNow that you mentioned it, it really might be him. But why would Blake be here? The entertainment department tracked him entering a film crew a few days ago, so he shouldnโt be in Impelia.โ
Mandy adjusted her camera and whispered, โWhoever it is, anyone willing to help in such a crisis must be a good person.โ
โIโm just curious why Blake is walking all the way in with a rescue team behind him.โ
Chrisโs car was also parked nearby. Doctors from several buses got off, carrying supplies as they followed the police units inward.
The landslide wasnโt severe nearby, and there werenโt many people trapped. They had also rescued the medical team from earlier on.
The further they went, the worse it got. Even the medical team was held back.
After arriving at the site of the landslide for three hours, Chris met Mandy.
Mandy and her cameraman were filming the rescue team as they were roping down a hole, and when she turned, she saw Chris carrying equipment and directing people forward. Mandy said a word to the cameraman, then jumped down and walked toward Chris.
โChris, I knew you were coming,โ said Mandy.
Chris looked her over and saw her clothes were soaked and muddy all over. He reached out and pressed on her shoulder. โAre you hurt?โ
โNo, I just brushed against something while rescuing people. Iโm fine. Did my brother call you to take care of me?โ
Chris shook his head. โNo, this is your profession. Your brother respects your personal choice and wouldnโt want me to treat you differently. Iโm here for the rescue operation. If youโre okay, Iโll keep going. Is anyone injured nearby?โ
Mandy pointed to where they had just been. โSomeone fell down there. No sound can get out from inside.โ
