While drinking oat porridge, Blake listened to Indya ramble on endlessly about work.

“Ever since I started working for Ms. Wilder, I haven’t had any personal time at all. Forget being in a relationship—even when I went home during the New Year and went on blind dates, I still had work to do. I even attended three banquets. And Ms. Wilder said she’d give me a raise, but when exactly is that going to happen?”

Part of Indya’s salary increase was to be covered by Blake. After all, she was Blake’s personal public relations manager, and that portion of her pay came directly from him. The company didn’t cover it.

“Dating someone won’t take too much of your time,” Blake said softly. “I just hope I can see you often, hope I can take care of you. I’m quite busy too, so I won’t take up too much of your time.”

She had thought carefully about what Chris said the night before. She did like Blake. In fact, it wasn’t only after she signed with him. Even before that, though she wasn’t a fan, Indya often paid attention to news about Blake.

Perhaps it was because she had once helped him at a banquet and later watched him become someone who was always in the spotlight. She just kept wanting to follow him. She wanted to see what kind of man that once helpless boy had become. Someone like Blake—once you looked, you couldn’t look away. He was simply too dazzling.

“Blake, I’ve thought it over carefully about you wanting to pursue me,” said Indya, biting her lower lip.

Seeing her conflicted expression, Blake’s heart skipped a beat. He was afraid she would reject him again, tell him again and again that it was impossible. He set down his plate, wanting to reach out and hold her hand, yet fearing it would be too presumptuous. Both of them were hesitating. Both of them were afraid. Finally, Indya made up her mind. “We can give it a try.”

“Huh?” For a moment, Blake lost all sense, left only with hearing. The words “give it a try” echoed in his mind. He froze for a long time. “You mean… you’re willing to date me?”

Indya nodded.

“Before, I didn’t agree because I felt we belonged to two completely different worlds. The gratitude you had for me back then took up too much of your emotions. I was afraid you were acting on impulse. But Jessica was right—what is there to be afraid of?” She smiled.

Really, what was there to fear? Blake was dazzling, but she wasn’t lacking either. In the public relations world, no one did the job better than she did. No one shone brighter than her. She was worthy.

“But let me be clear first. Right now, I’m your public relations manager. Our relationship absolutely cannot be made public, and your fans must never find out. Someone like you—once news of having a girlfriend gets out, it’ll cause a huge stir. I won’t work overtime just because of my own relationship,” said Indya, pointing at him.

Blake raised his hand and gently wrapped her finger in his. “It’s all up to you.”

But deep down, he wanted to tell the whole world. At that moment, he truly wanted to tell everyone that he had won the best girl.

At noon, Chris and Jessica finally got up. Indya came to find them, asking if they wanted to go out together. At a glance, Jessica could tell from her expression that she had already made her decision. Her eyes no longer carried the lingering shadows of hesitation—only happiness.

Being with someone as outstanding as Blake was bound to bring happiness. Just like how she herself was happy with Chris. Chris, sharp as ever, noticed it too and smiled. “You two just started dating, you need your own space. We won’t play the third wheel.”

“Shush!” Indya hushed him. “I’m not planning on going public, don’t talk nonsense.”

Leaning against the doorframe, Jessica said, “You know my rule—office romance mustn’t cause trouble for the company.”

Indya made an “okay” gesture.

“Since you two aren’t going out, I’ll be leaving. Oh, by the way, Shannon took the kids to the venue. She said they’ll come back after lunch.”
