Chapter 36

Alarickaโ€™s voice was calm: โ€œThis was our only condition, so donโ€™t complain.โ€

It was just like Tamika said. Alarickaโ€™s rented place didnโ€™t have an elevator, but luckily it was on the second floor, so moving the luggage was quick.

Even though it was in an old neighborhood and the building was old, the house had all the hardware it needed. The place had two bedrooms and a living room, not very big. They tidied up a bit and could move in pretty quickly.

Alaricka skillfully opened her backpack and took out her workbook.

Finals week was coming; she didnโ€™t dare to relax.

At the Argentโ€™s villa, Kieran just walked in, and the servants going in and out were moving a nightstand and got stuck at the door.

The servant was sweating all over and moved slightly to the side to let Kieran in.

โ€œMr. Argent, sorry.โ€

Kieran didnโ€™t move, just stood at the gate, blocking the servants going in and out.

He recognized this nightstand; it was the one in Alarickaโ€™s room, and there were still the cute stickers Alaricka had put on the cabinet door.

His brows furrowed slightly, and his voice was low: โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€

The servant avoided eye contact and said in a low voice, โ€œIt was Sir Argentโ€™s order; you can go ask him.โ€

Kieranโ€™s narrow black eyes had a strange pressure, like he was casually looking at the nightstand.

The servants were sweating all over their heads, scared by the pressure in Kieranโ€™s eyes and voice.

Kieran stared for a long time, and they couldnโ€™t figure out what Kieran was thinking, or whether they should go forward or back.

After a moment, Kieran shifted a bit and revealed a doorway you could walk right through.

The servant let out a sigh of relief and was about to carry the nightstand out when he heard Kieranโ€™s voice again.

โ€œPut it down.โ€

The servant was startled: โ€œBut this was what Sir Argent told us to do, said to throw out everything from Ms. Hustonโ€™s room; weโ€ฆโ€

Kieranโ€™s voice got deeper: โ€œPut it back. Donโ€™t make me say it again.โ€

The servants glanced at each other and both saw the fear in each otherโ€™s eyes.

They quickly lowered their heads and, following the way they came, put the nightstand back in Alarickaโ€™s room.

The servant who was standing in the living room with the big bed also hurriedly put it back.

Alarickaโ€™s room had pretty much been restored to how it was.

Kieran walked up to Wallaceโ€™s study and knocked on the door.

An old voice of Wallace came from inside the door: โ€œCome in.โ€

Kieran pushed the door open and walked in. His eyes, hard to read, quickly glanced over the desk in the study. He got straight to the point: โ€œWhere did Alaricka go?โ€

Wallace took off his reading glasses; his cloudy eyes met Kieranโ€™s gaze, and he said in a low voice, โ€œShe just moved out; what should be there will still be there.โ€

Kieran didnโ€™t show much expression: โ€œWhy did you make her move out?โ€

At this point, Wallace was already a bit annoyed by Kieranโ€™s questioning.

But for Kieranโ€™s sake, he still explained in a low voice, โ€œShe stayed here, but she didnโ€™t get along with Clarissa or Holter. Keeping her here just caused trouble all the time, big or small. It gave me a headache.โ€

Kieran pressed his thin lips together.

Even though he didnโ€™t talk, Wallace understood the grandson he had raised himself.

Wallace suddenly smiled, a teasing look in his eyes: โ€œI remember she didnโ€™t get along with Roschelle. But now, you look like you donโ€™t want her to leave.โ€

Kieranโ€™s eyebrows twitched a little: โ€œThis wasnโ€™t the same thing.โ€

Wallace stopped smiling. โ€œKier, Alaricka couldnโ€™t stay here.โ€

Kieran lifted his eyelids, his dark eyes meeting Wallaceโ€™s cloudy ones.

Wallaceโ€™s face darkened a bit: โ€œKier, she just wasnโ€™t one of the Argent family. You shouldโ€™ve thought about the Argent family in everything, not some outsider.โ€

Kieranโ€™s eyes narrowed a little.

Wallace looked away and stared out the window.

โ€œKier, if you couldnโ€™t let go, you could let her come back.โ€

As he expected, Kieran turned down the offer.

Everybody knew, it was the same between Alaricka and the Argent family as it was between Alaricka and Roschelle.

Kieran only chose Roschelle and only chose the Argent family.

Kieran always knew what he was doing and what he had to do.

This was also Wallaceโ€™s trust in him.

Roschelleโ€™s family background was way better than Alarickaโ€™s, and the help Roschelle gave Kieran was way better than what Alaricka could give.

Whether emotionally or materially, Roschelle was stronger than Alaricka.

Wallace waved his hand, โ€œGet out, donโ€™t bother me while Iโ€™m reading.โ€
