Chapter 1076
Debra could have waited more days before Buchan Entertainmentโs artists collapsed from overwork. Then she could swoop in and steal all their artists.
โIsnโt the current situation good enough? I donโt make things too hard for others, especially women. If I did that, youโd not only face the consequences of losing the bet but also those sky-high penalty fees from the advertisers. That would drive you to your grave,โ Debra replied nonchalantly.
Theda was confused. In her mind, people like them never held back when dealing with enemies, but Debra was an exception.
โBut having a kind heart doesnโt always lead to a good outcome,โ Theda muttered. โI was seriously trying to take down the McKinney Group.โ
Debra shrugged. โI felt no pressure.โ
Her confident look made Theda frown, but deep down, Theda knew she could never achieve that goal. It wasnโt because Debra was running the McKinney Group so well, but because Andrew was standing behind her.
Theda smiled bitterly, โLuck is really on your side.โ
Debra had a soulmate, an ex-husband who couldnโt forget her, and so many friends. And Andrew had always been there for her.
โI had my darkest days,โ Debra said. โBut life holds endless possibilities as long as you bravely embrace it.โ
Suddenly, the door opened, and in rushed Juan. Debra glanced at the time. It had only been five minutes.
โIโll leave you to it,โ Theda said before walking away.
Debra turned to Juan. โLooks like you knew I wanted to talk to you.โ He had been outside the building when Thedaโs call had reached him.
Debra wasnโt sure if it was her imagination, but she felt like Juan seemed a little thinner than last month. Then it made sense, given how he got arrested and hid from the media.
Juan started, his tone heavy, โReturning the shares is good for you and your company.โ Debra frowned. โIf thatโs the case, why did you give me your shares in the first place? Just to save Melody from prison?โ
Juan opened his mouth, trying to say something, but the words seemed to choke him.
โHonestly, I donโt care about this. Itโs all yours now,โ Debra said, taking out the agreement. โThings between us are complicated, but I hope you wonโt hurt Erica with the things you know. I know youโre not the type to use threats on women.โ
Juan looked down at the agreement and suddenly spoke as she turned to leave. โI wish you a happy wedding.โ
