Chapter 1086
Debra changed into her wedding dress. The stylist and makeup artist marveled, โMadam, you look stunning in this dress. Forget red-carpet celebrities; none of them can compare to you.โ Debra felt flattered, and Michael smiled, โThis dress suits you perfectly.โ โThank you,โ she replied.
Michael glanced at the brightening sky outside. โItโs about time. Iโd like to play the role of your family and walk you out.โ There was hardly anyone else left in the Frazier family. Debra recalled all the ups and downs. Michael had always been the backbone of the company and her most reliable partner. โIn my mind, youโre always my family,โ she said.
Michael chuckled, โIf you hadnโt agreed to let me walk you out, I wouldโve been upset.โ
The bridal convoy pulled up outside. Erica saw it through the window and exclaimed, โHere they are! Go block the door!โ Debra blinked. โBlock the door?โ
Erica quickly directed the stylist and makeup artist to barricade the door. Then, with lightning speed, she pulled Debra to sit on the bed. She whispered, โNo matter what happens, donโt make a sound.โ โWhy?โ Debra was bewildered.
โI saw this on TV,โ Erica explained. โWhen the groom comes to pick up the bride, the bridesmaids are supposed to block the door. Itโs like a game. He has to pass all the tests to get through. Iโve studied this thoroughly. Trust me, itโll be fun.โ โButโฆโ Debra began.
A sudden knock on the door interrupted them. โBlock it! Donโt let them in,โ Erica commanded, throwing herself into the action. From outside came a voice, โItโs me. Open the door.โ
Erica recognized the voice. โLiza? What are you doing here?โ โIโm a bridesmaid. The wedding car brought me here,โ Liza replied. Erica doubted it. โIโm the only bridesmaid. Canโt fool me.โ
โDebra made me her bridesmaid. Let me in,โ Liza explained.
Erica turned to Debra for confirmation. She shrugged. โLiza complained about the boring life at the Potter Mansion and insisted on attending the wedding, saying sheโd never been a bridesmaid before, soโฆโ
Erica was skeptical, shouting toward the door, โI donโt believe you. You must be a spy.โ โLet me in, or Iโll knock down the door,โ Liza threatened. โGo ahead. Even if you smash it, youโre not getting in,โ Erica taunted.
Suddenly, there came a beeping sound. Lizaโs bodyguard booted open the door in one swift motion. The makeup artist and the stylist jumped back in fright. Liza strode in triumphantly, holding up a key card. โA small door canโt stump me.โ
Erica panicked. โShit! If you could think of using the room key, Marion could too. This is not foolproof.โ โEricaโฆโ Debra tried to say something, but a booming voice came from downstairs. โFolks!โ Garland announced, โThe groom has come to pick up the bride.โ
