Chapter 1087
โTheyโre coming!โ Erica rushed to close the door.
Liza was puzzled. โThe groom is here to pick up the bride? Why are you closing the door?โ
โYou donโt get it,โ Erica said, piling up everything she could find to block the door. โThis is tradition.โ
โWhat kind of tradition?โ Liza asked.
โYou wouldnโt understand,โ Erica replied. โJust donโt let those guys in easily.โ
โBut among them is your cousin.โ
โTrue, but not today.โ
โBut if you donโt let them in, how are they supposed to take the bride away? What if the wedding ceremony is delayed?โ
Erica paused. โOh, right. When can I let Marion take you away?โ
Debra shook her head. This was her first wedding. No one had taught her these customs before.
Erica pulled out her phone and started searching online. โDammit. Network lag.โ
Just then, a beeping sound echoed outside, and the door opened. Randy poked his head in, cautiously checking for any traps. Then he entered the room and announced, โMarionโs here to pick up the bride. Everyone, clear out.โ
โClear out,โ Garland echoed, following him inside. The makeup artist and the stylist quickly left the room.
Erica stepped in front of Debra and said, โNot so fast.โ
Marion came in, dressed in a black suit with a tie. His hair was meticulously styled, looking crisper than ever. In his hands was a bouquet of pink roses. Everyone, Liza included, was amazed by the scene.
โWhy not? Itโs about time,โ Randy said anxiously.
While searching for information on her phone, Erica insisted, โAnyway, the groom should present something first before he comes in.โ
Garland was confused. โLike?โ
โLike an entrance fee,โ Erica replied.
Randy was speechless. โWeโre already inside.โ
โDoesnโt matter.โ Erica stretched out a hand.
Randy could only gesture to Marion. โGive it to her.โ
Marion shrugged. โMy moneyโs with Debra.โ
Randy turned to Garland, who winced. โIโm broke.โ
Finally, Randy looked at Michael, who said blandly, โDonโt look at me. Iโm not the best man.โ
Resigned to fate, Randy sighed, โAlright, Iโll pay.โ He took out a bank card from his pocket and handed it to Erica. โHere. Can we take the bride now?โ
โWait a minute.โ Erica glanced at Liza, who was standing there like a lemon. โDonโt just stand there. Show your hand.โ
Liza was puzzled. โWhatโs this for?โ
โTo ask me for money,โ Randy sighed, producing another card. Then he handed one to Michael as well.
Erica nodded in satisfaction. โAlright, picking up the bride isnโt easy. Marion, youโll have to pass our test.โ
