Chapter 167
โI went to the bathroom,โ Debra replied.
Jordanโs cheeks flushed slightly, and he quickly turned away. โLetโs go. Thereโs nothing more to do here.โ
โAlright, Iโm bored too,โ she quickly agreed.
Jordan led them out. Erica winked at Randy, who received the signal and left the dance floor. Just as they stepped outside, Debraโs phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and raised an eyebrow. Thatโs quick, she thought, recognizing Joeโs number.
Erica asked, โIs it Juan looking for you?โ
The mention of Juanโs name darkened Jordanโs expression. Before Debra could react, he snatched the phone from her hand. โDonโt answer it!โ he declared, his voice filled with annoyance.
โKnock it off, Jordan. Give it back,โ Debra said, reaching for the phone.
Jordan answered the call, barking, โDebra is with me! Stop calling!โ
Both Debra and Erica were stunned. He hung up and handed the phone to her awkwardly. Debra took the phone, her expression dazed. She had planned to make Juan believe she was celebrating Jordanโs birthday, but she hadnโt expected Jordan to reveal it so bluntly.
Erica stuttered, โArenโt you afraid Juan will cause you trouble?โ
โWhatโs there to be afraid of? If anything comes up, Iโll take care of it.โ He paused and added, โI mean, my brother will take care of it. Juan wouldnโt dare challenge him.โ
Erica shook her head. โMen are foolish when they are in love. In this aspect, Jordan is just like Marion.โ
Joe stared at the disconnected phone, his expression grim. Juan rubbed his temples wearily and asked, โWhere is she?โ
โMrs. Nicholsโฆโ
โSpill it!โ
โIt was Jordan who answered the call, saying Mrs. Nichols was with him and asking me not to call again.โ
Juanโs eyes snapped open, a dangerous glint flickering in their depths. โDebra is still at the Pottersโ?โ
Joe replied, โAccording to our people, Mrs. Nichols hasnโt left the house. She should still be at the Pottersโ.โ
Juanโs voice rose, his anger palpable. โItโs been a day. Does she want to stay there permanently?โ
Joe suggested cautiously, โShould we go and bring Mrs. Nichols back? Regarding what happened at the banquet yesterday, Mrs. Nichols did nothing wrong. Miss Miles lied, and you blamed Mrs. Nichols. We should bring her back.โ
Juanโs expression darkened, his voice sullen. โDid nothing wrong? She came over and defended Jordan. She even teamed up with those outsiders against me. Does she still consider me her husband? Does she still see herself as Mrs. Nichols?โ
Joe was scared into silence.
Juan continued sullenly, โSend someone to bring her back now. If she refuses, she doesnโt need to come back ever.โ
Joe was torn. โSirโฆโ
Juanโs expression hardened, his voice unyielding. โDidnโt you hear what I said? If she doesnโt want to be Mrs. Nichols, there are plenty of people who do.โ
Joe bowed his head in resignation. โOkay, Iโll arrange for Mrs. Nichols to be brought back.โ
As midnight approached, Debra returned to the Pottersโ residence, removing her makeup and changing her clothes. The birthday party was still in full swing, and no one showed any signs of leaving.
