Chapter 168
Erica nudged Debra gently. โJordan is about to cut the cake. He insists on waiting for you before doing so. Letโs go down.โ
Debra nodded in agreement. โOkay.โ
Hand in hand, they descended the grand staircase, drawing the attention of the party attendees. The guests, all from wealthy families, followed Debra with keen interest. Whispers filled the air as they speculated about her presence.
โIsnโt this Juanโs wife? Why is Jordan waiting for her?โ
โI heard Juan and she had a falling out. Heโs found a mistress, probably getting a divorce.โ
โCould it be that Jordan has taken a liking to her? What is he thinking?โ
The murmurs continued, but Jordan, delighted to see Debra, ignored them. He quickly ascended the stairs and gallantly extended his hand.
โPrincess, please.โ
Debra chuckled at his childish gesture. Just as she was about to take his hand, the front door burst open. Several men in black suits stormed in, lining up with military precision. Joe walked in between them, his expression serious.
Jordan turned, his brow furrowing in anger. โWho allowed you to come in?โ he demanded, standing protectively in front of Debra.
The guests fell silent, recognizing Joe and sensing the impending confrontation. They watched with bated breath, anticipating a dramatic scene.
Joe addressed Jordan with a polite yet firm tone. โSorry for the disturbance, Mr. Jordan Potter. Mr. Nichols sent me to bring Mrs. Nichols back.โ He turned to Debra, his voice respectful. โMadam, Mr. Nichols misses you greatly. Please come with us.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow, her voice steady. โAnd if I refuse?โ
Joe was silent for a moment. โIt would be unfortunate.โ
The bodyguards stepped forward menacingly. Jordan shielded Debra, his voice filled with determination. โDonโt be afraid. Iโll get your back.โ
Debra, however, remained calm. She knew Joe wouldnโt dare act recklessly at the Pottersโ residence. But she was surprised they had managed to enter so easily. Juanโs power in Seamar City was not to be underestimated. If things escalated, no one would fare well.
โWait!โ Debra patted Jordanโs back reassuringly. She stepped forward, her voice firm. โToday is Jordanโs birthday party. Isnโt it disrespectful to him for you to break in like this?โ
Joe bowed his head slightly. โMadam, we were blocked at the gate and had to do this to follow Mr. Nicholsโ instructions.โ
Debra nodded understandingly. โI know itโs not your fault. How about this? Let your people wait here. After Jordan cuts the birthday cake, Iโll go with you.โ
โDebra!โ Jordan said urgently. โIf you donโt want to go back, Iโฆโ
Debra hushed him gently, lowering her voice. โI can handle it. Today, celebrating your birthday is the most important thing. Letโs not invite trouble.โ
The last time, at the jewelry banquet, the Potter family had already clashed with Juan for her sake. She didnโt want to cause any more trouble for them.
Chapter 165
Jordan pressed his lips into a thin line, clearly unhappy with the situation. But since Debra had made up her mind, he could only lead her to cut the cake first.
Debra took out the gift she had prepared and said, โHappy birthday, Jordan! I wish you happiness every day.โ
Jordan looked at the gift, hesitating to speak.
Joe interjected, โMadam, shall we go?โ
