Chapter 22
Jordanโs eyes seemed to see through her. Debraโs breath hitched. She had intentionally written the wrong answer to the last question. But she had calculated other questions beforehand to ensure her score exceeded the graduate pass line. After all, in the eyes of others, she had never received any financial education. If she suddenly produced remarkable results, it would surely cause controversy, and Juan would become suspicious. She wondered how Jordan found out.
โYou peeked at my paper?โ Debra said sternly. โItโs forbidden to peek in the exam room. Itโs cheating.โ
Jordan found it amusing. He leaned closer to Debra and lowered his voice. โWhat I submitted was a blank sheet.โ
Unfazed, Debra looked up and said, โSo, you donโt know the answer to any of the questions?โ
Jordan furrowed his brows.
โIf so, how can you say I deliberately answered the final question wrong?โ Debra asked.
Before Jordan could speak, Debra added, โDude, I admit your approach to chatting up is unique, but Iโm not interested in people with poor academic performance. See you.โ
Debra slipped out from between Jordanโs arms. Jordan couldnโt help but laugh at this maneuver. Chatting her up? Poor grades?
The bodyguard outside said, โSir, your brother wants you to go home after the exam.โ
Jordan whistled. Initially, he had no interest in coming to Arcane Academy. But now, it seemed somewhat intriguing.
โTell my brother I want to enroll in Arcane Academy.โ
The bodyguard was taken aback, almost thinking he had misheard. When they left home earlier, Jordan adamantly refused to come to Arcane Academy.
Debra arrived home in the evening and found the lights in the living room were on. Melody sat on the sofa with a serious expression, and beside her was Juan, reading the newspaper.
โGrandma, why are you here at this hour? You didnโt even tell me in advance, so I could have Sophie prepare,โ Debra said with a smile.
โIf I didnโt come, I donโt know what would become of this household.โ
Debra glanced at Juan. His expression was cold.
โYou went to take the exam at Arcane Academy. Why didnโt you tell me?โ
โGrandma, going to the exam was my own decision. I want to expand my knowledge and experience.โ Melody slammed the table, raising her voice. โYouโre the hostess of the Nichols family and Juanโs wife. After marriage, you still go to take exams. What kind of image does that present? Iโve told you before. The Nichols family will take care of you. Your actions have affected our reputation.โ
Debra fell silent. In her last life, before marrying Juan, she had promised Melody to be just a housewife. Melodyโs traditional views were deeply ingrained, and to win Melodyโs favor, Debra had given up her academic career of studying abroad. But now she didnโt want to go down that path anymore.
โGrandma, Debra just went to take the exam for fun. Thereโs no need for you to be angry.โ Juan took a sip of coffee. Anyway, he never believed Debra could pass.
Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from the school office.
