Chapter 411
โAlright,โ Juan responded.
Across town, in the Nichols family house, Melody shot up from her seat, her face a thundercloud. โWhat? Juan is at the amusement park with Debra?โ
โThatโs not all. I heard Juan booked the entire park. And he invested one billion in Potter Entertainment just to convince Debra to go with him,โ Hester reported.
With Sheila out of the picture, sheโd seized the chance to reinsert herself into the Nichols family. But Juan, fixated on Debra, barely acknowledged her existence. Sheโd only learned of todayโs escapade by overhearing whispers at Nichols Group headquarters.
โThat foolish boy!โ Melody fumed. โWhat is he thinking?โ Now that the Frazier family was broke, Juan shouldnโt waste any more time on Debra. He was supposed to divorce her as soon as possible.
Melody said, โCall Joe. Tell him itโs an order from me. Juan should come home now.โ
โYes, Mrs. Nichols Sr.,โ Hester eagerly pulled out her phone.
Joe hesitated before answering. โMiss Vargas, anything I can help you with?โ
โMrs. Nichols Sr. wants Mr. Nichols to return home immediately,โ Hester relayed.
โIโm sorry, the signal here is quite poor. Iโll have to call you back later,โ Joe replied, hanging up.
Hesterโs face fell. She knew a brush-off when she heard one.
Melody, watching the exchange, grew even more incensed. โJuan is so disappointing. He lost his child, and now heโs parading his almost ex-wife around an amusement park. Iโve had enough of this nonsense.โ
She picked up her cane and told Hester, โGet the driver. Iโm going to the company to sort this out once and for all.โ
โYes, Mrs. Nichols Sr.,โ Hester replied.
Meanwhile, Juan watched Debra on the carousel, her laughter ringing out as she spun. He snapped a picture, a soft smile playing on his lips. If heโd realized his feelings for her sooner, he wondered if things would have been different.
His phone rang, interrupting his thoughts. It was Joe.
โSir, Miss Vargas called. It seems Mrs. Nichols Sr. has learned about this.โ
โI see,โ Juan said, his eyes never leaving Debra. โKeep the rest of the dayโs plans under wraps. I donโt want anything to ruin her birthday.โ
โUnderstood.โ
Juan hung up just as Debra stepped off the carousel.
โIf something comes up at the company, you should go,โ she said. โYou donโt have to stay for my birthday.โ She was used to Juanโs busy schedule.
Juan looked at her and said solemnly, โToday, you are my priority.โ
Debra fell silent. There was a time when those words would have meant the world to her. But now, they left her feeling hollow.
Juan, oblivious to her inner turmoil, asked, โWhatโs next? Today, Iโm at your command.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow. โBe careful what you promise. What if I asked for all of Nichols Groupโs assets and the presidentโs seat? Would you hand them over?โ
