Chapter 43
โIโve already had Randy investigate this. I believe weโll have results soon,โ Marion said steadily. His words reassured Debra a little.
โCan you guess who did it?โ Marion asked.
Debra rubbed her temples, and countless faces flashed through her mind. But no clear answer emerged.
โI have no idea, but it definitely wasnโt Jordan.โ
Marion chuckled. โSo, the person you met privately was Jordan.โ
โAt a time like this, please donโt joke around,โ Debra replied.
โIf it was Jordan, it would be easy to handle,โ Marion said.
Debra fell silent. That was true. The trending topic only mentioned her meeting a man at a nightclub without revealing his identity. This suggested either the poster didnโt want Jordanโs identity revealed or simply didnโt know who he was, guessing only based on her jacket. The latter seemed more likely. After all, few would dare expose this matter online if they knew it was Jordan.
โWill the Potter family intervene?โ Debra asked.
โBased on my understanding of Andrew, he will.โ The scandal involving his brother and a married woman would definitely prompt action.
โSo, I donโt need to worry about it?โ Debra sought confirmation.
โIโll handle the poster, while Juan should have come up with a PR strategy. The Potter family will handle the news, so it wonโt stir up much of a storm for you. Just relax,โ Marion reassured her.
Debra felt a sense of relief. In the afternoon, the news sank without a trace. Joe came to fetch her, and Debra returned to the Nichols familyโs house. The good news was that the matter hadnโt come to Melodyโs attention. The bad news was that her studies at Arcane Academy would soon become difficult to conceal. Explosive news spread rapidly within this circle.
Juan was sitting on the sofa. His exterior betrayed no emotions, but Debra sensed the turbulent anger in his eyes. He was visibly angry, though he was always adept at concealing his feelings.
โGive me a fair explanation,โ he demanded.
Chapter 43
โAt school, a classmate, Colleen, invited me to hang out. Since the Wagner family is prominent, I didnโt want to offend them, so I went,โ Debra explained.
โAnd then?โ Juan pressed.
Seated opposite him, Debra recounted everything frankly. โMaybe because of some old grudges, Jordan tried to prank me, but we reconciled in the end.โ
Juan looked up, his gaze rattling her.
โWโWhatโs wrong?โ
โYou went to a nightclub?โ The point he focused on surprised her.
โItโs socializing. I bet youโve been to one.โ
Seeing the dangerous glint in his eyes, Debra gave in. โThe speculation in the news is absurd. If it affects the companyโs image, Iโll cooperate with your PR efforts unconditionally.โ
โReally?โ Juan said. His question made her feel like she was falling into a trap.
