Chapter 625

The area, though undeveloped, was surrounded by the sea on all sides. They were likely approaching the edge of the island. Juan already heard the waves crashing against the rocks.

โ€œWe canโ€™t keep going this way,โ€ Debra said, anxiety clear in her voice. โ€œWeโ€™re getting farther away from the production team.โ€

But Juan was more concerned with something else. He bent down to touch her ankle. Debra flinched. โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

โ€œLet me check your ankle.โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s no need.โ€

โ€œWe donโ€™t have much time to rest. If those killers catch up with us and I donโ€™t know the shape weโ€™re in, weโ€™re both screwed.โ€

Debra fell silent, seeing the truth in his words. Juan went on to remove her shoe. Her ankle was swollen and red, needing immediate attention. He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a bottle of ointment.

โ€œThatโ€™s not from the showโ€™s supplies, is it?โ€

โ€œI brought it myself.โ€

โ€œYou were expecting this?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not as unprepared as you are.โ€

Juan squeezed some ointment onto his palm. โ€œThat may hurt a little.โ€

โ€œI can take it.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

Juan started massaging the ointment into her ankle. Debra bit her lip, refusing to utter a sound.

โ€œYou can cry out.โ€

โ€œIt doesnโ€™t hurt.โ€

Juan glanced up at her, clearly unconvinced. As he pressed down harder, Debra couldnโ€™t hold back a sharp inhale.

โ€œAre you doing this on purpose?โ€

โ€œI thought you couldnโ€™t feel anything. Now I know you can, so thatโ€™s good.โ€

โ€œUnbelievable.โ€

He finished quickly and slid her shoe back on before peeking outside. The killers hadnโ€™t caught up with them yet.

โ€œWhile we have a second,โ€ he said, โ€œwhy donโ€™t you tell me who youโ€™ve pissed off?โ€

It was obvious they werenโ€™t after him. She hesitated but eventually muttered, โ€œI mightโ€™ve had a run-in with Edgar.โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s not capable of pulling this off,โ€ Juan snorted.

Debra blurted, โ€œWell, heโ€™s been secretly dealing with the Lowe Group.โ€

Juanโ€™s eyes narrowed. โ€œLowe Group?โ€

Realizing she mightโ€™ve said too much, Debra quickly tried to change the subject. โ€œWhat about you? Youโ€™ve pissed off plenty of people in Seamar City. Why isnโ€™t this about you?โ€

Juan crossed his arms, waiting. โ€œName one.โ€

โ€œWhere do I start? You conned Mr. Blair into thinking youโ€™d marry Shelia. Now the Blair family hates you.โ€

โ€œHe wouldnโ€™t dare.โ€

โ€œOr what about the Patrick family in real estate? The Bates family? Maybe those ruthless Graham gangsters at the docks, or even the Farley family from Esterham?โ€

Debraโ€™s mind raced as she listed names, trying to cover her mistake, but she was too flustered to realize sheโ€™d gone too far. The moment she mentioned the Farley family, Juanโ€™s expression changed.

โ€œThe Farley family?โ€ he asked, his voice dangerously low. โ€œWhere did you hear about that?โ€

She looked up and met his penetrating gaze. Her heart sank. That was something from her past life that happened in the third year after their marriage. By now, the two families hadnโ€™t fallen out yet. She was burning up from the fever, and in her panic, sheโ€™d let something slip she wasnโ€™t supposed to know in this timeline.

โ€œI guessed,โ€ she said, looking away.

Juan wasnโ€™t buying it. โ€œSince youโ€™ve mentioned it, I have a few questions for you.โ€

Debraโ€™s eyes narrowed. โ€œWhat do you want to know?โ€
