Chapter 625
The area, though undeveloped, was surrounded by the sea on all sides. They were likely approaching the edge of the island. Juan already heard the waves crashing against the rocks.
โWe canโt keep going this way,โ Debra said, anxiety clear in her voice. โWeโre getting farther away from the production team.โ
But Juan was more concerned with something else. He bent down to touch her ankle. Debra flinched. โWhat are you doing?โ
โLet me check your ankle.โ
โThereโs no need.โ
โWe donโt have much time to rest. If those killers catch up with us and I donโt know the shape weโre in, weโre both screwed.โ
Debra fell silent, seeing the truth in his words. Juan went on to remove her shoe. Her ankle was swollen and red, needing immediate attention. He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a bottle of ointment.
โThatโs not from the showโs supplies, is it?โ
โI brought it myself.โ
โYou were expecting this?โ
โIโm not as unprepared as you are.โ
Juan squeezed some ointment onto his palm. โThat may hurt a little.โ
โI can take it.โ
โOkay.โ
Juan started massaging the ointment into her ankle. Debra bit her lip, refusing to utter a sound.
โYou can cry out.โ
โIt doesnโt hurt.โ
Juan glanced up at her, clearly unconvinced. As he pressed down harder, Debra couldnโt hold back a sharp inhale.
โAre you doing this on purpose?โ
โI thought you couldnโt feel anything. Now I know you can, so thatโs good.โ
โUnbelievable.โ
He finished quickly and slid her shoe back on before peeking outside. The killers hadnโt caught up with them yet.
โWhile we have a second,โ he said, โwhy donโt you tell me who youโve pissed off?โ
It was obvious they werenโt after him. She hesitated but eventually muttered, โI mightโve had a run-in with Edgar.โ
โHeโs not capable of pulling this off,โ Juan snorted.
Debra blurted, โWell, heโs been secretly dealing with the Lowe Group.โ
Juanโs eyes narrowed. โLowe Group?โ
Realizing she mightโve said too much, Debra quickly tried to change the subject. โWhat about you? Youโve pissed off plenty of people in Seamar City. Why isnโt this about you?โ
Juan crossed his arms, waiting. โName one.โ
โWhere do I start? You conned Mr. Blair into thinking youโd marry Shelia. Now the Blair family hates you.โ
โHe wouldnโt dare.โ
โOr what about the Patrick family in real estate? The Bates family? Maybe those ruthless Graham gangsters at the docks, or even the Farley family from Esterham?โ
Debraโs mind raced as she listed names, trying to cover her mistake, but she was too flustered to realize sheโd gone too far. The moment she mentioned the Farley family, Juanโs expression changed.
โThe Farley family?โ he asked, his voice dangerously low. โWhere did you hear about that?โ
She looked up and met his penetrating gaze. Her heart sank. That was something from her past life that happened in the third year after their marriage. By now, the two families hadnโt fallen out yet. She was burning up from the fever, and in her panic, sheโd let something slip she wasnโt supposed to know in this timeline.
โI guessed,โ she said, looking away.
Juan wasnโt buying it. โSince youโve mentioned it, I have a few questions for you.โ
Debraโs eyes narrowed. โWhat do you want to know?โ
