Ericaโs voice was loud. Randy scratched his head, opened the door, and grumbled, โWhoโs shouting at the door early in the morning? Donโt you let people sleep?โ
Seeing Erica outside, he thought he was mistaken. He closed the door and reopened it before confirming what he saw. He stammered, โWhat brings you here?โ
Erica pinched Randyโs ear and said, โIs this how you teach Marion how to pursue a girl? You know what? If you screw things up, Iโll teach you a hard lesson.โ
โRandy, what is going on, exactly?โ Debra chimed in. She leaned against the wall and looked at him with her arms crossed. Following a glance at Erica and Debra, he swallowed nervously. These two ladies made such a fuss early in the morning, leaving Randy feeling helpless.
He quickly led Debra and Erica into his apartment. The decor was new, indicating he had moved in only recently. โHave a seat!โ Randy gestured politely for them to sit on the sofa. The dignified CEO of the Osborne Corporation was now acting like a lackey. Erica felt regret for impulsively revealing where Randy lived.
Randy sat opposite Debra, cleared his throat, and said, โAbout this matter, well, my house was far from Arcane Academy. For convenience, when Marion bought an apartment for you, he suggested I buy one here too.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. โThen why didnโt you tell me?โ
โI didnโt think it was worth mentioning,โ he replied, winking at Erica.
Erica caught on and began siding with Randy, addressing Debra, โYeah, you know, Randy is lazy. He canโt handle waking up early and coming home late. This has nothing to do with Marion.โ
Randy covered his eyes in embarrassment. Now Erica had made things worse.
โDid Marion send you here to watch me?โ
โNo, it canโt be. Marion would never do such a thing. He was just worried about your safety living here alone, so he let Randy stay here for convenience and to take care of you.โ
Erica spilled everything, and Randy was frustrated. โErica, can you stop talking?โ
A glare from Erica silenced him.
โAlright, letโs just pretend nothing happened, okay?โ Debra didnโt want to make things difficult for them.
Erica nodded vigorously, and Randy beamed happily.

Back in her room, Debra looked at the box of durians, hesitated, and started to text Marion.
Debra: [Thank you for the durians. I really like them. Just donโt send them again.]
Some things didnโt need to be made so clear. With his intelligence, Marion should be able to comprehend her meaning.
