Chapter 965
Drake was rendered speechless.
Kale chimed in, โMr. Nichols, youโre fully aware that Miss Eaton and Cathryn are friends. Why didnโt you mention that the Eaton family would raise a fuss?โ
Juan shrugged. โMy family isnโt acquainted with the Eaton or the Bernard families, and I didnโt know they were friends. Otherwise, I would never have suggested that Mr. Lowe get engaged to Cathryn in the first place.โ
โBut youโฆโ
โI saw it online.โ
He took out his phone and showed them an article that detailed the love triangle between Drake, Liza, and Cathryn.
โI didnโt realize Mr. Lowe had such a colorful history.โ
Kale tried to retort, but Drake stopped him. โThatโs enough.โ
The damage was done; it was pointless to argue over whose fault it was. Taking a deep breath, he declared, โLetโs go home.โ
He then strode toward the car. Just as he reached for the door handle, Juan muttered, โMr. Lowe, youโre getting into my car.โ
โI know. My car broke down,โ Drake said, urging Kale. โGet in.โ
Kale quickly followed, opening the door on the passenger side. Before stepping in, Drake glanced back at Juan. โThanks for the lift. Iโm sure this marks the start of an even smoother partnership between us.โ
For a moment, Juan regretted coming to meet them. Heโd expected a fiery confrontation, but all Drake seemed to want was a free ride. He reluctantly got into the driverโs seat and pressed a few buttons on the console.
Then there was a beeping sound, puzzling Drake.
โWhat was that?โ
โStarting the meter. When we get there, donโt forget to pay the fare.โ
โWhat? A fare?โ
โDonโt tell me a bigshot like you canโt afford a cab ride.โ
โDebra conned me out of ten million tonight.โ

โNot my problem.โ
โSheโs your ex-wife.โ
โAnd like you said, ex-wife. So, are we driving or not?โ
Kale said tentatively, โBoss, maybe we should just go with it? Itโs not like itโll cost much.โ Drake stomached his anger and waved it off.
When the car pulled up to the Lowe Mansion, Juan stopped the meter and glanced at the screen.
โThatโll be $120.โ
โThatโs a 151-drive, and youโre charging $120?โ
โMy carโs a Porsche. Luxury rides donโt come cheap.โ
Drake was so stunned, he burst out laughing. It wasnโt his year. Every petty villain seemed determined to cross his path, and this one was especially conniving.
โFine,โ he grumbled, pulling out his wallet. But as he looked at the stack of bills inside, he hesitated. No way was he letting Juan profit so easily. Closing the wallet, he took out his phone instead.
โLetโs go with PayPal.โ
Juan laughed, โThatโs frugal.โ
Drake grunted, โIโve lost enough today.โ
After the transaction was made, Drake got out and slammed the door behind him.
In the corner, someone watched with clenched fists.
