Chapter 245

The entire crew acted at Grace's behest. Although Brian had once saved Grace, it was a minor incident. No one on the crew would offend her for such a trivial matter.

The director positioned everyone for the shoot. Just as they were about to film the kneeling scene, a production assistant rushed to the director, whispering something. The director's face instantly changed. He hurried to the other side of the set.

Everyone except those filming stared curiously at the director, wondering what prompted his abrupt departure. They saw him approach a man in a beige trench coat, bending slightly as if to speak. The director's deference led many to assume the man was important. Otherwise, a director of the director's stature wouldn't behave so subserviently to an outsider.

The director and the man then walked deferentially toward the filming location. As the man approached, several people recognized him.

Jason!

Screenshots from his previous livestream were still circulating online. Most people in the entertainment industry, naturally, followed such gossip.

Evelyn and Lily were stunned by Jason's sudden appearance. Their gazes involuntarily shifted to Grace.

Could Jason be here because of Grace?

Both women looked ghastly, especially Evelyn, who had struggled to get Grace there that day. Jason's presence threatened her plans. His relationship with Grace was, to say the least, ambiguous.

"I'm here today because a friend is filming," Jason chuckled. "I'm just checking on her; I wouldn't disrupt filming, would I?"

Those unfamiliar with him might have found him charming and gentlemanly. However, those who knew him recognized his smile and gentleness as a facade.

"Of course not!" the director replied. "I wonder who your friend is, Mr. Reed?" He mentally reviewed the film's cast, from the lead actress to the ninth extra.

"She's over there," Jason said, nodding toward Grace.

"Over there?" The director blinked, peering. He saw only extras.

Could Young Master Reed's friend be an extra?

It seemed impossible. The director frantically searched behind the extras for any actresses, but found none.

"You haven't started yet, have you?" Jason asked.

"No," the director replied quickly.

"Then I'll go say hello," Jason said. "My friend had some trouble last time, so I'm here to cheer her up." He walked toward Grace.
