Brian glanced at Evelyn before asking Jason, "Does she bother you?"

"She's rather bothersome," Jason replied lightly. He spoke carelessly, without lowering his voice, so those around them could hear. Immediately, many—even those who disliked Evelyn—looked at her with pity. After all, few could make Emerald City's boss admit to being bothered by someone.

"In that case, quit," Brian said casually.

The words, however, sounded like thunder to Evelyn. Quit? Was she really quitting the show because of those two statements? It seemed impossible.

Evelyn's eyes widened in disbelief. "Brian… you… are you telling me to quit the show?"

"That's what you said. If Jason dislikes you, you'll quit. Since he dislikes you, why wouldn't you quit?" Brian asked.

Evelyn wanted to slap herself. If she'd known, she wouldn't have offered to quit as a tactical retreat! He was letting her retreat to the very end.

Choked with emotion, Evelyn couldn't speak. The surrounding glances intensified her embarrassment. She bit her lip hard. "Well… then, I'll leave before Mr. Reed dislikes me even more."

All she wanted was a place to calm down, to escape the stares and decide what to do next. However, before she could turn, Jason said, "You haven't even knelt yet. Why the rush to leave?"

Evelyn's eyes widened. "What?"

"As a matter of fact, how many times did you make her kneel last time? Let's make it the same this time. Let me see how well you can kneel and grovel. You're an actress; you should be better than an extra. If you can't manage it, I don't think you have any place in this industry," Jason said lightly.

This sentence, however, seemed to seal Evelyn's fate. If she didn't kneel, she might not have a future in show business.

Evelyn bit her lip until it bled. She looked at Brian pleadingly. Embarrassed and anxious, she cried out, "Brian…"

Unexpectedly, Brian's eyes fell on Grace's face. Only when Jason stepped in front of Grace did Brian look away. He said coldly, "In that case, kneel. How many times did you make her kneel last time? Kneel that many times this time."

The two men silently agreed. Evelyn couldn't afford to offend either.

"Oh, and don't forget to kneel in front of her," Jason added.
