Chapter 255
He refused to listen. Instead, he pulled her hand closer, examining the faint bruising on the back of her hand. He brought her hand to his lips and gently blew on it.
Grace gasped, seeing Jason intently blowing on the bruise with his head lowered. "It'll hurt less after I blow on it," he muttered, gently rubbing the bruise with his fingertips, his gaze focused.
Grace's heart pounded violently; her throat constricted, rendering her speechless. If it were any other brother, she'd think it caring, but this was Jason. She was overwhelmed.
His bodyguard, standing behind him, stared, eyes wide. When had Young Master Reed ever treated a woman like this? Perhaps Emerald City would soon know her name.
"Feeling better?" his gentle, magnetic voice asked.
"It'sbetter," Grace said, attempting to withdraw her hand for the third time. His fingers tightened around her wrist, carefully avoiding the bruise. "Behave, or I'll hurt you again," he warned.
Grace's face flushed. His voice held an ambiguous undercurrent. She let him lead her to his Bentley.
The driver opened the door. Jason and Grace got in.
"It's still early. Is there anywhere you want to go?" Jason asked.
Grace shook her head. Nowhere she wanted to go with him.
"Then let's find something nearby. I remember when Sis used to take me to night markets and malls," Jason chuckled.
That was idiotic, Grace thought, recalling her scrimping and saving to buy him clothes and a phone—things he clearly didn't need. Had she been a joke to him then?
Jason directed his driver to a shopping mall—one they'd visited before. He'd claimed to have just received his paycheck. They'd eaten at a restaurant inside. She'd tried to save money for him, unnecessarily, as it turned out.
Now, he was taking her back to that same restaurant.
"Want something to eat?" he asked.
"Alright," she replied, biting her lip. He went in first.
They found a table. Grace took the menu and ordered a plethora of expensive dishes. Even the waiter frowned; it was excessive. Jason, however, smirked, watching her with an unexpected fondness in his eyes.
Grace ordered over twenty dishes. Looking up, she met Jason's smiling, amorous gaze.
